🌲🔥 The Smoke Jumper is officially back… and apparently it’s not going anywhere. 🔥🌲
If you’ve stopped by this week, you’ve probably noticed just how popular the Smoke Jumper has been. We can’t keep them on the board long enough before someone orders one!
A little North Fork history for those who may not know…
Before Hot Shot Coffee Shack called this building home, it was Slim’s Coffee Shack, and one of their most popular menu items was actually called the Lumber Shack Bagel. It became a local favorite and one of those menu items people remembered long after it was gone.
When Scott moved away, I always found myself trying to recreate what made that bagel so special. After plenty of trial and error, I finally reached out to Scott himself, and he was kind enough to share the ingredients with me. So thank you, Scott—we miss having you around.
When I decided to bring it back, I didn’t want to take credit for someone else’s creation, and originally it was just meant to be a little local secret for those who remembered it. I changed things up and served it as a traditional sandwich instead of the classic open-faced style.
Well… that didn’t last long. 😂
Every single week people asked for it open-faced, and honestly, that’s how everyone seems to love it best. So after enough requests, the open-faced version made its return.
Now it’s known as the Smoke Jumper, but its roots go all the way back to the old Lumber Shack Bagel. It’s a little piece of North Fork history sitting right on your plate.
To everyone who’s ordered one this week—thank you. Whether you’ve been eating them since the Slim’s days or you’re trying one for the first time, we’re glad to keep a local favorite alive.
