📖✨ Have You Ever Wondered About the History of Palombo’s Italian Restaurant? ✨📖

Every great restaurant has a story, and ours began long before Palombo’s Italian Restaurant ever opened its doors.

In the mid-1800s, Joseph Marchand (1825–1889), the son of French immigrants, founded the small town of Marchand, Ohio in Jackson Township. An ambitious farmer and businessman, Joseph helped shape the area by selling land to the B&O Railroad, making Marchand an important train stop for local residents, merchants, and farmers.

The town of Marchand grew to include a post office, hotel, general store, grain elevator, and a saloon/inn known as the Zimber Inn. The inn was operated by Joseph’s daughter, Louisa Marchand Zimber, and her husband, Joseph Zimber. Later, their daughter Olive Zimber Goodall continued the family legacy by taking ownership of the establishment.

Then, in 1979, a new chapter began when Tony Palombo purchased the historic saloon/inn and transformed it into Palombo’s Italian Restaurant. What was once a gathering place for travelers arriving by train became a gathering place for families, friends, and generations of guests sharing great food and creating lasting memories.

Today, we're proud to continue that tradition in a building filled with over a century of local history. ❤️🇮🇹
