🔸 dahi baray (uzma’s version) 🔸
what’s in a name? that which we call dahi baray in karachi, by any other name would taste just as good —
dahi bara, dahi bhalla, dahi bhallay, dahi vada, dohi bora, dahi vade, thayir vadai, thairu vada, perugu vada, mosaru vade —
and maybe more! because while this staple dish is, in it’s simplest form, lentil fritters/dumplings soaked in yogurt, it appears throughout the south asian region with slight variations in preparation, taste — and, yes, name.
the connecting thread? a rich history, and yummy, (relatively) healthy goodness.
