Went down to sutherlin for the 4th annual throwdown event. Was a hot one per usual but also another amazing weekend. Thank you Terry, Lisa, Derrick and the whole volunteer crews, yall make us feel like royalty with all the amenities you provide teams and we appreciate that a lot! I had what I felt was a pretty good cook. A little rushed in the morning as I was so tired i trimmed pork, injected and rubbed pork and brisket morning of comp rather than night before. There were 30 top tier teams from all over the states. Here are my results. Didn't get pictures.
5th place chicken
3rd place ribs
Middle of the pack for pork and brisket with a 1st on my table, however with all the high scores I ended up 9th overall with a 695. My highest KCBS score to date.
Also ended up with a sponsors choice bbq award for my Zenners Sausage Company jambalaya on saturday!
Thank you to my sponser Smokinā Iron Fabrication for designing your pits to run with minimal effort.
Thanks Jason Hertz, Joseph Poteet Christina Poteet for pushing me to use Royal Oak Charcoal for the last two events. Accounts to my first GC, then highest kcbs score on record for me!!!
Congrats to everyone who walked, especially my fellow SIF team members Small AXE BBQ RJ's Smokehouse and BBQ Joint J&C BBQ and Catering and also Tim Tom's BBQ for that first place chicken!!! Great job everyone.
