So because I’m crazy and making a huge Production over this, I said “Jake come here let’s make a video”

Annoyed he said “ i’m a grown ma mom grown men go to work. You don’t need to make a video”

I said “that’s funny. Were you a grown man this morning when I had to help you brush your teeth remind you to put deodorant on, clip your nails, make sure you have on underwear and give you your medicine before your father drives you to work”?

He said “ok, you can take a picture, but no video”.

Whew….. my therapist hates to see me coming.

anyway, go see Jake today- he’s working without MA!!!!

ideally, please pay with card or Venmo, paypal or CashApp but if you use Cash- be patient with him as he struggles with making change. Or just give him a $20 and call it a day… 😂🥰

Be nice to my boy today, don’t make MA come for you.

He’s excited!

Tomorrow is a pretty big day in our little Inclusion Revolution.

Typically, if Ma can’t be at the shop, Jake isn’t there either and Dave steps in to run the cart. But tomorrow, completely of his own volition, Jacob decided he wants to go to work with his dad and run HIS cart independently.

Dave will be there if he gets stuck but Jake wants the responsibility to be his.

And I am simply blown away.

The tenacity. The business acumen. The pride he takes in what he has built. Most importantly, the desire to show up for his business even when Ma isn’t there beside him.

THIS is why opportunity matters. This is why we presume competence. This is what can happen when we stop deciding what someone can’t do and give them the time, support, confidence and space to discover what they can do.

Tomorrow, Barista Jake is running the show. And Ma may not be there physically…but you better believe I’ll be ridiculously proud from afar.

He’s open 10-2, so stop in and see him.

Independence doesn’t always happen overnight. Sometimes it happens one cup of coffee at a time. ☕️♾️🧩👍🏼💙

You already know we have delicious coffee, I mean it’s made by the best barista in town. How could it not be?

But did you know that we also have delicious baked goods? Nishi Bansal has been hard at work in her mentorship learning how to make new recipes and different techniques.

This weekend, we are proud to have oatmeal raisin cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and a variety of scones for purchase. Each bag is two dollars and Nishi‘s QR code for her Venmo is right on the counter.

Be sure to stop in for a delicious beverage made by barista Jake and pick up a sweet treat made by Baker Nishi.

THIS is what Empowerment in Action looks like.

Our associate Nishi, alongside volunteer mentor Julie, has been busy baking some very special goodies for sale right here in the shop and every dollar Nishi earns from her treats is helping her work toward a BIG dream: opening her own bakery someday.

And there’s an extra layer of meaning every time that oven door opens. These treats are baked in “Mitchell’s Oven,” lovingly donated by Ruth and David Landsman in memory of their late son, Mitchell. His memory is now part of helping another young person build confidence, learn skills, discover purpose, and chase a dream. That’s a pretty beautiful legacy.

This is why programs like Empowerment in Action matter. We aren’t just teaching someone how to bake we’re creating opportunities for mentorship, entrepreneurship, independence, belonging and a future built around someone’s abilities and passions.

When you support Jake’s Baristas and the Inclusion Revolution, THIS is what you’re supporting. Real people. Real skills. Real dreams. Real impact.

And in this case…some really delicious baked goods too.

Tonight we were at the Montgomery County Chamber Of Commerce celebration event at the historic King of Prussia Inn that is under construction through the KOP History.

The idea of the event, was to learn about the history of the building, take a tour, network on the lawn and enjoy a few food trucks Barista Jake included but Mother Nature had a very different plan.

We loaded the truck, bought supplies and then set it all up only for the weather to destroy the night and leave both Jake and I soaking wet and not selling a thing. That’s the nature of the food/beverage truck biz though.

However, the positive of the night was getting this pic of Jake from the back during the star spangled banner. He always shows such reverence for our flag and I know that was my dad’s influence.
