Registration opens tomorrow, July 29, 2026, for all students. Don't forget to complete your Annual Meal Application, too!

A few important reminders:

1. Dietary Accommodations
If your student requires dietary modifications or substitutions in the cafeteria due to a food allergy, the Child Nutrition and Nursing Departments must have a doctor's note documenting the required accommodation/precautions. This helps ensure we can safely meet your child's dietary needs while following all required guidelines.

2. Complete Your Annual Meal Application
While you're completing your back-to-school registration, please take a few extra minutes to submit your annual Meal Application. This quick and confidential process may qualify your child for free or reduced-price meals. Attached is important information about adding money to your child's Meal Account with PaySchools, general registration information and Meal Applications. Help me celebrate these very hard working ladies from the Child Nutrition Department! They work hard every day to ensure our kids have wholesome, fresh and tasty meals- all served with a smile. Having a little Friday fun for the next couple of weeks with some big Texas Rivalries. Serving lines were themed this week for either the Dallas Cowboys or the Houston Texans and the kids voted on their favorite team to cheer for. Next week, Astros vs Rangers!

I had a great time today connecting with fellow Child Nutrition Directors and Texas farmers and producers at the Texas Department of Agriculture’s annual MEGACON event in Waco. Normangee ISD was recognized for effectively utilizing our allocated USDA commodity products, which we are proud of. I also attended several informative sessions focused on increasing the use of local food products in our menus and building relationships with local farmers. One highlight of the day was hearing from TDA Commissioner Sid Miller and even getting a professional photo with him! To top it all off, I returned with three aerogardens that we’ll set up in the cafeteria so students can watch fresh produce grow throughout next school year. 🍅

4th Grade wrote an argumentative paper recently on if bugs should be served in the school cafeteria... so today, a new item was advertised on the menu boards with information sheets on the serving line stating the benefits of bug protein... April Fools'! To make it up to them, Mrs. Kandy offered them her homade candy... which was a foil wrapped grape- April Fools' again!
