Back in the day, playground equipment was less “child safety approved” and more “good luck, little buddy.” We had metal slides hot enough to cook a grilled cheese, seesaws that could launch your cousin into next week, merry-go-rounds spinning at highway speeds, and monkey bars over gravel because apparently grass was too luxurious. Half the playground looked like it was built by a retired welder with no fear of lawsuits. And somehow, after all that, we turned out mostly fine. A little creaky, maybe. Slightly suspicious of hot metal. But fine.
