We wanted to let our longtime customers and former staff know that Neal Solomon, one of the founders of Johnny’s, has passed away.

Neal, along with his cousin John Furst, opened Johnny’s in 1993 with the goal of offering great food and service in a classic diner setting.

We bought Johnny’s in 2014 with the hope of continuing that tradition, and we were grateful to get to know Neal over the years through his visits to Johnny’s with family and friends.

There was a beautiful service at Temple Shalom today, and it was heartwarming to hear his family share stories of Neal’s warmth, kindness, intelligence, and deep love for his family and community. He had a gift for sharing life’s important lessons in quiet moments, always with a twinkle in his eye and ready for a laugh.

It was a beautiful tribute to a very special man, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to continue the legacy he helped create.

Our deepest condolences to Neal’s family and friends. ❤️ For those who would like to pay their respects, Shiva will be held Tuesday and Wednesday. Details can be found in the obituary linked in our bio.
