Hello everyone! If I pop into a photo it feels right to introduce myself for any new friends around here. I am April, the face of this little home bakery! Thank you for being a part of making our lives a bit sweeter and supporting Mum Yums Bakery right in the heart of Serra Mesa, San Diego!

Since I posted my fun Easter cake, it’s time to share the “adult” one.

I love making carrot cake. It is one of my specialty cakes and every time a client orders one I get excited. On top of making them for clients I like to eat them as well!! So that means that every Easter a carrot cake is on the menu for our Easter guests. This year since our dinner was just our family I made it for our Easter picnic with our church family! It had an extra layer to feed the masses and was just enough to satisfy my carrot cake obsession AND share with some dear people. My favorite way to decorate the cake is with fresh edible flowers but these dried violas also worked beautifully.

Last time a cookie and a muffin made an even more coffee/tea worthy compliment. This time an almond croissant and a cookie come together to create this almond cookie. What’s even better is that it is GF for all my clients and friends.

Share with your friends locally, you won’t want to miss learning this classic British staple. Sticky toffee pudding is a date cake, smothered in a homemade toffee sauce at the end and served warm with ice cream! You’ll certainly be ready to try that before taking home your own to gift or share.

On top of that, this is the perfect season for gourmet banana bread cookies. These are soft and perfectly baked, then piped with a cream cheese icing. You will be over the moon to indulge in this one and take home another for later.

You will have your very own charcuterie board and drink to enjoy during the process. So come with a friend, invite someone new, or just take an afternoon for yourself. This class size is for 2-5 people at a time for intentional relationship building and instruction.

What will it bee? gender reveal cake.

The client and I decided it would be a pink strawberry or blue…blueberry vanilla cake pending results. It was…strawberry!

Their cake and candy too!

Candy surprise cakes are so much fun knowing that when they cut it, it will spill out their favorites! This red velvet cake with such pretty purple colors was made for a fun 14 year old birthday! It was filled with Reese’s pieces and skittles…clients choice!

Smash cakes are such a delight to make. I take such pleasure in creating for some of the most special moments of my clients life.

First birthdays are for the Mama. The year was hard, sleepless nights and endless teething make one a bit mad. But for all of you Mamas celebrating the first birthday, I am here rooting for you. I’m rooting for you in the toddler years ahead, the cake covered face, and all the photos and memories that this celebration holds.

I am thankful for being able to help you celebrate in a beautiful AND delicious way for everyone of the big or not so big days ahead.
