📝 Ingredients :
For the Cabbage Bowls:
- 3 small green cabbages
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 lb smoked turkey sausage, sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- ½ green bell pepper, diced
- ½ red bell pepper, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1½ tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
🍽️ How to Make It :
1️⃣ Prepare the Cabbage Bowls
Preheat your oven to 400°F.
Remove any damaged outer leaves from the cabbages. Cut each cabbage in half and carefully scoop out some of the center to create 6 sturdy bowls.
Arrange the cabbage bowls in a large baking dish.
2️⃣ Brown the Smoked Sausage
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced smoked turkey sausage and cook for 4 to 5 minutes until browned around the edges.
3️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables
Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the skillet.
Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until slightly softened.
Stir in the butter and minced garlic. Cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
4️⃣ Season the Cajun Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the skillet.
Sprinkle with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
Gently toss everything together for 1 to 2 minutes, just until the shrimp begin turning pink. The shrimp will finish cooking in the oven.
5️⃣ Stuff the Cabbage Bowls
Spoon the Cajun shrimp, smoked sausage, and vegetable mixture generously into each cabbage bowl.
Make sure every bowl gets plenty of shrimp and sausage.
Mix the chicken broth with Worcestershire sauce and pour it into the baking dish around the cabbage bowls.
6️⃣ Bake Until Tender
Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
Bake at 400°F for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 to 20 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and the shrimp are fully cooked.
7️⃣ Finish with Lemon and Garlic Butter
Drizzle the fresh lemon juice over the stuffed cabbage bowls.
Spoon the flavorful buttery pan juices over the Cajun shrimp and sausage filling.
Serve hot while the cabbage is tender and the garlic butter sauce is still bubbling.
