🎬 QUEENS ON CAMERA: Chop Shop

Before the cranes and new construction, Willets Point was the Iron Triangle: a few blocks of auto body shops, scrapyards and dirt roads right in the shadow of Shea Stadium. Director Ramin Bahrani filmed his 2007 indie drama Chop Shop right there, with real shops and real streets as the set.

The film follows Ale, a 12-year-old orphan who works and lives in a Willets Point repair shop and hustles to build a better life for himself and his sister. Critics loved it, and it's one of the most honest portraits of Queens ever put on film.

Rob MacKay takes you through the scenes and shows how the neighborhood looks now, in a part of Queens that's changing fast. 🔧🚗
