Spices are very important in Mediterranean cooking, especially poivre rouge, or paprika. The paprika you taste at Mémé is made from red bell peppers grown on a small Moshav, or farming cooperative, outside of the owner's hometown. Mémé is named after owners Alon and Jacob Cohen's mother. Their neighborhood restaurant is family run with a menu heavily influenced by the north African region.

We are so sad to announce that after 16 years in the most beautiful neighborhood, Mémé on Hudson street will be closing down. We thank the community for your endless support. The love we have all felt and been shown has been unmeasurable and we’re so grateful for it all. Mémé on 10th ave will still be in operation, but Mémé on Hudson will be saying goodbye on October 24. Hope to see yall in the final weeks for one more drink 🥂🫶🏼

Mémé is French Moroccan for grandmother, in honor of the owner Jacob’s mother, whom his children called Mémé.
