Dear valued patrons and cherished community,

It is with a heavy heart and a sense of bittersweet nostalgia that we announce the closure of our beloved bar. Over the years, we have had the privilege of serving you, sharing laughter, and creating memories that will forever be etched in our minds. However, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and it is now time for us to bid farewell.

This decision was not an easy one to make but our hands are tied as the landlord has forced unreasonable terms on us and we couldn’t come to an agreement.

Throughout the years, our bar has been a hub of joy, celebration, and unity. It has been a place where friends became family, where stories were shared, and where bonds were forged. From the lively conversations at the counter to the bustling atmosphere during events, we have been privileged to witness countless memorable moments.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated staff, whose unwavering commitment and infectious enthusiasm have been instrumental in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all who walked through our doors.

Once again, from the depths of our hearts, we express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, and we will forever cherish the memories created within the four walls of MIKA Bushwick.

Max Kolomatsky is a digital artist. animator, and filmmaker living in Brooklyn, NY.

His distinct art-style is defined by calm, muted color schemes, unconventional characters, and exaggerated perspectives.
In 2020, Max began collaborating with the world around him in unexpected ways. With his "Digital Graffiti" series, he illustrated over photos sent to him by strangers from around the globe, transforming ordinary personal photos into imaginative mixed-media pieces.
The mass-appeal of this project gave Max a platform to begin working as a freelance artist. Since then, Max has created animated commercials for Vans Shoes, illustrated for The New York Times, directed a music video for Sony, made viral videos for Adobe, and much more.
In 2023, Max set out to redesign public signs and flyers found on the New York City streets. Instead of offering his services as a freelancer, Max decided to redesign and repost these signs for free, anonymously. This incognito design initiative sparked public interest with over 10 million social media views, an appearance on NBC national news, and a profile in The Washington Post. The project is intended to help others whilst highlighting the importance of artists and designers in capturing public attention.
