What really happened after Colin Kaepernick took a knee—and how much did the NFL, the media, and even other players work to contain the fallout? In this explosive conversation, Ryan Clark, Colin Kaepernick, and Eric Reid pull back the curtain on the fear, money, pressure, blackballing, media manipulation, and internal resistance surrounding one of the most controversial protests in sports history. Our deepest gratitude to Tomi Adeyemi ✨TOMI and BMike Brandan Bmike Odums for an unforgettable conversation in New Orleans at Baldwin & Co. Bookstore. Baldwin and Company

Tonight’s conversation was one filled with imagination, honesty, brilliance, and possibility. Thank you to the entire Baldwin & Co. team for the work you put in to make nights like this possible, and to every person who showed up, filled the room, bought a book, listened, asked questions, and supported this vision.

Because this story belongs to all of us.

Every author who sits in our chairs. Every person who takes a seat in the audience. Every staff member working behind the scenes. Every partner who believes in what we’re building. You are all co-authors in the story of Baldwin & Co. Baldwin and Company

Together, we are building an intellectual hub of the South. We have built a place where the world’s greatest writers, artists, scholars, and thought leaders come to think out loud. A place where ideas leave the page, enter the room, and have the power to transform people, communities, and ultimately our city.

This is bigger than an event. We’re building a culture around ideas and we’re grateful to everyone helping us write the story.

October 1st is about to be crazy! Tomi Adeyemi at Baldwin & Co. in conversation with creative genius BMike . This is your chance to hear from her directly, in her own words, not through headlines, clips, or comment sections.

This summer, Tomi made headlines when she stepped away from the film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, the book that made her one of the most important voices in modern fantasy. She said she won't promote the movie. Instead, she asked readers to do something simple: support the books, and buy them from independent bookstores.

You've Read the Takes. Now Hear From the Author.

Her Legacy of Orïsha series drew on West African mythology to build an epic on a scale publishing had rarely given Black characters. A generation of readers, especially young Black women, finally saw themselves at the center of the story.

Voices like hers change what literature believes is possible. Having her in our room, in New Orleans, is a moment we don't take lightly, and we hope you won't either.

Some people come for the coffee. Some come for the books. Some come because they need a place to think, create, work, or simply be.

Baldwin & Co. Baldwin and Company is where coffee fuels the mind, books expand it, and community brings it all together.

Veteran White House correspondent, April Ryan has lived the backlash firsthand -- the attacks, the headlines, the viral moments, and the relentless policing of Black women who dare to be visible and unapologetic.

In her new book, "Notes on a Blacklash", she pulls back the curtain on the politics of silencing Black women and the price that can come with refusing to be silenced.

This conversation goes far beyond Trump. It’s about race. Gender. Power. Visibility. And who America allows to speak without punishment.

April Ryan will be in conversation with Congressman Troy Carter and Cynthia Butler Robertson.

Stop Confusing Access With Influence

Rashad Robinson and Charles Blow bring decades of experience examining power, race, culture and the institutions that shape American life. Rashad Robinson, the former president of Color Of Change, spent nearly 14 years building the organization into a major national racial-justice force and is the bestselling author of From Presence to Power, drawing on more than two decades of organizing, advocacy and institutional strategy.

Charles Blow is a celebrated journalist, cultural critic and bestselling author of Fire Shut Up in My Bones and The Devil You Know; after a long career as a New York Times opinion columnist, he became Harvard University’s inaugural Langston Hughes Fellow and continues his work as a political analyst and public intellectual.

This is not simply a conversation about getting into powerful rooms—it is a conversation about who owns the room, who writes the rules, and how communities turn visibility into actual power. If you care about where Black America goes next, this is a conversation you should be in the room to hear.
