Harriet Tubman understood that freedom wasn't an abstract idea. It was food on the table, safe passage, community, courage, and refusing to leave others behind.

The face on our money tells us who we choose to honor. The stories we tell are who we become. Freedom has never arrived all at once, neatly wrapped and universally delivered.

Today, we celebrate liberation not as a finished chapter, but as an ongoing practice. May we keep moving toward a country where the distance between our ideals and our actions grows smaller every year.

Happy Juneteenth. Keep the light on for one another.

For $12 you can put love into action. When you give the gift of a dozen cupcakes, not only do you put a smile on you people’s face, you keep my team working. Cupcakes: We have frosting. Mountains of it. Swirls. Sprinkles. Drama. We arrive at the party like we own the place.

Petit Fours: That's adorable. We prefer elegance. Tiny, jewel-like perfection. We don't need six inches of buttercream to make an impression.

Cupcakes: People eat us in the car with zero shame.

Petit Fours: People eat us with their pinkies slightly elevated and immediately feel fancier than they actually are.

Cupcakes: We're fun.

We are ready for you. Apricot Pistachio Cupcake. Sophisticated enough to order a glass of wine with dinner, but still perfectly happy being eaten over the sink at 10 p.m. in your pajamas. Sweet, nutty, and a little dramatic. Almond cake piled high with caramel buttercream and toasted almonds. The cupcake equivalent of saying, “I don’t want attention,” while wearing sequins to brunch. Chocolate and strawberries were already having a perfectly good time. Then balsamic showed up uninvited and somehow became the most interesting person at the party.

So many cupcakes! Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather eat a $1 cupcake than a dot cake all day long.

The day before Father's Day, we're hosting a blood drive.

Last year, I lost my father to blood cancer. The disease eventually took him from us, but blood transfusions gave us something precious: more time. More conversations. More stories. More ordinary moments that don't feel ordinary once they're gone.

Blood donations don't just save lives. Sometimes they give families another birthday, another holiday, another chance to say "I love you."

Summer is one of the hardest times of year for blood banks, and the need is constant.

If you're able, please consider donating on June 20th. As a small thank you, everyone who preregisters will receive 6 cupcakes of their choice.

Give blood. Give time. Sometimes they're the same thing.
