Ruby Chinese Restaurant

Ruby Chinese Restaurant The Ruby Chinese Restaurant, located in Lichfield, was founded more than 25 years ago by Noreena and Tommy Ho.

Both come from very humble backgrounds; Noreena was born and bred in Birmingham and Tommy moved to England with his parents at the age of 11. Both of Tommy’s parents worked as chefs in local Chinese restaurants. After completing his Masters degree at University, Norreena and Tommy’s youngest son Wai-Lee has entered into the family business. He hopes to integrate what he has learnt at University with his parents’ long term experience in the catering and hospitality industry.

UPDATE FROM TOMMY…..
As you all know he was very passionate about the way the restaurant & takeaway was run and that’s why Ruby was well established in Lichfield for almost 39 years he wasn’t just passionate with the restaurant but every single customer too who he saw as family 😍Tommy wants you all to remember him from how he ran the restaurant and the Amazing Chinese new year celebrations he hosted for 38 years. When the restaurant does finally re open Tommy has taken the decision to bow out and he will not be seen around the restaurant again.
If any of our wonderful customers have any photos past and present of there time over the years at the Ruby can you please post them in comments as we plan to make a big montage to keep forever 😍

Sending so much love
Tommy, Norreena & family ❤️

As Tommy & myself do not own the Ruby anymore, doesn’t mean to say we don’t care what’s happening and this sorry mess with the electrics, everyone missing out on one of the biggest events of the year at the Ruby Chinese New year, We are deeply saddened by this However please refrain by making any further reservations for the restaurant on line as with no electricity they can’t access your reservations and they apologise to you all sincerely.

All refunds for Chinese new year will be refunded back to your accounts very soon

Announcement

We want to share some news with you. Earlier this year we decided to sell the Ruby. The sale took place in early December.

It was not a decision we took lightly. We have owned the Ruby since 1986 and for 38 years we have put our heart and soul into the business. Over this time we have met so many wonderful customers and have made many, many close friends. However, we are close to retirement and feel now is the time to start winding down.

Whilst we had a number of interested parties wishing to buy the restaurant, we needed to make sure whoever bought it would continue running the Ruby in the right way; and the buyer was selected for this reason.

Please continue to show your support and give them a warm Lichfield welcome.

Tommy and I will be staying on for a short while to help the new owners get to grips with running the restaurant and then we will gracefully bow out.

From the bottom of our hearts we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited us, for choosing us to celebrate your birthdays, anniversaries and sometimes even your weddings. From first dates to wedding proposals, hen parties, works do’s and family gatherings, we have loved having you share your special occasions with us.

We will never forget the legendary Chinese New Year celebrations (which will continue!) and we will be forever grateful to our amazing customers.

It’s been an absolute honour and pleasure to serve you.

Love

Tommy & Norreena
