Day 5 of our East Coast Trip
Today we drove quite a bit, traveling from Old Saybrook, CT to Plymouth, MA. It's not that great of a distance except for a few notable mentions:
--we took less interstate and smaller roads to enjoy the scenery and to travel at lower speeds
--seems like folks are in a bigger hurry up here and have less patience for those of us simply trying to navigate where to go via GPS
--we actually drove into Newport and walked part of the Cliff Walk. Turns out we are better off just finding our own nook and crannies and dealing with less stress.
So to make a long story short, we are modifying our destinations so we can actually enjoy the journey. This is supposed to be a refreshing and relaxing trip. Sometimes it is / sometimes not so much. So we didn't go to a grand cathedral this morning and actually slept in. And we probably won't journey to the end of Cape Cod. And we probably won't walk the historical trail in Boston. Nope.
Tonight we found a quiet beach to dribble around on, watching the ebb and flow of waves, examining rocks and shells, meandering. I began singing to the Lord and feeling my heart and eyes well up with emotion. These are the things that bring new life to my bones. I need continual refreshing from the Lord!
