It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Michael Fitzsimmons, who left us on Tuesday.
Mike was one of those truly special people who left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him. His love for his wife, Imelda, was immeasurable. He loved his family, cherished his friends, and found joy in the simple things that made life beautiful.
Whether it was a trip to New York City to see a Broadway show, enjoying a great meal at a favorite restaurant, or spending his weekly evenings listening to Imelda and her friends sing karaoke, Mike knew how to enjoy life and the people who made it meaningful.
To so many of us, Mike will always be "The Tomato Man" He could get you the most beautiful fruits and vegetables, and when fall rolled around, pumpkins galore! But what made Mike truly special was never just what he could get for you. It was the kind of person he was.
Mike was always willing to help, in any way he possibly could. If you needed something, he would do whatever was within his power to make it happen. He was the kind of friend who would literally give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. That was Mike — generous, caring, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand. "Ya know what I mean?"
While our hearts are broken by his passing, we find some comfort in imagining Mike being welcomed with loving arms by all the family and friends who have gone before him. We can only imagine the reunion taking place, filled with familiar faces, warm embraces, laughter, and stories that will never get old.
Mike, you will be deeply missed by so many. Thank you for the memories, the kindness, the laughter, and for being the kind of person who made this world a little brighter simply by being in it. The world needs more people like you, and your absence will certainly be felt.
Please keep Mike’s beloved wife, Imelda, and his entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. May they find comfort in the love that surrounds them and strength in the countless beautiful memories they will carry with them forever.
Visitaion will be on Monday October 19 from 3-6pm at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ.
