Crema Coffee Roasters Crema Coffee Roasters SOURCING
We ethically source coffees by building meaningful and equitable relationships with farmers, mills, and close partners.
(1386)

With deep respect for farmer and land, we seek coffees with notable flavor, balance, and sweetness. Our coffees are directly traceable to the farm and mills where they were produced. Our wise, 103 year-old neighbor once said, "Do good and good will follow you". We took his advice to heart, because great coffee--like life--begins with great relationships. Follow along on our blog as we visit farmers, their families, and their land, and get to know the extraordinary people who tirelessly plant, grow, and harvest your coffee. ROASTING
We roast in such a way to celebrate every coffee’s unique nuances: microclimate characteristics, varietal cup qualities, and distinct planting, harvesting and processing practices. Rigorous quality control and focused roast notation produces roast profiles (a mathematic curve that charts movement of time and temperature) that we meticulously monitor to produce exceptional consistency and tasting notes. This commitment to detail enables us to identify and celebrate the complexities of each coffee. We cup (sample) every coffee we roast, every time. CAFE
Crema is the rich foam topping of espresso, the mark of excellence, and an indicator of deft preparation and ideal coffee extraction. "Crema" signifies our aim, our ethos, and passion for excellence. Crema Coffee Roasters is proudly owner operated, say hi the next time you’re in!

Meet Asa! We’re continuing our series of introducing you to the faces you see every day at Crema 🙂 Asa is our rockstar trainer at our Brentwood cafe! He’s been in Nashville for a little over 2 years, and at Crema for basically as long. A proud Texan — Asa came here from Austin but lived north of Dallas for most of his life.

☕️ What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work I’m either drawing, knitting, or making pottery! I really love picking up new hobbies and skills, especially creative ones.

☕️ If you could have one super power, what would it be?
If I had a superpower I would want to be able to speak fluently in every language!

Make sure to say hi to Asa next time you see him at our Brentwood cafe!!

🍌THE FOSTER🍌 IS BACK! Our friend Graciela created this drink last year and has somehow managed to make it even more delicious this year! It’s a butterscotch latte infused with real banana, and served with a butter waffle cookie (because you know we love to enjoy an extra lil’ snack with our drinks sometimes 😌). It’s available hot or iced at all Crema cafes now!

Today is International Coffee Day and we’re celebrating that coffee quite literally could not happen without multiple nations working together in a distinctly global experience — one that involves a plethora of people— farmers, pickers, exporters, importers, coffee quality graders, roasters, cafes, coffee drinkers (that’s you!) and so many more.⁣ 🌍
⁣
Did you know that the top ten coffee-consuming countries do not grow coffee? (The state of Hawaii in the U.S. being the only exception.) Each cup of coffee or bag of beans you purchase at Crema was taken care of, grown, processed and shipped by incredibly talented humans in another country. ⁣🌱☕️
⁣
Crema is just one tiny part of what makes the big coffee world go ‘round. As you sip your coffee today (and every day!), we hope you’ll think of all the hands across multiple countries that made it possible. 🤝

SUMAVA, COSTA RICA 🌴🍍🍫 All of our fantastic Costa Rican coffees come directly from Exclusive Coffees SA, which means they have control over almost all of the process of getting the coffee to us, including doing their own exporting and importing. This operation was founded by Francisco Mena who also owns and operates a few farms and the Sumava de Lourdes Micromill where he processes a handful of varieties he grows.

This is a traditional washed process coffee, which actually is not-so-typical for Costa Rican coffees since they use so many different versions of the honey process! It’s 100% Villa Sarchi variety, a natural mutation of the well-known bourbon plant. There’s just a single-gene mutation that causes the plant to grow smaller, also called ‘dwarf/compactism. It’s a variety that was actually discovered in Costa Rica in the 1960s and it’s mostly grown within the country.

Try it by the cup at any Crema cafe or head to the link in our bio to grab a bag for yourself! ☕️
