Our Mother Catherine (we called her Momma) was a gifted baker and cook. Whatever she would prepare, she would always sprinkle a little love on top. We especially loved her baked goods. They were sooo yummy they made OUR tongues stand up and applaud! We would gather to eat around the table and found ourselves being more excited about what she was fixing for dessert than we were about the main meal.

Momma always prepared a main dish and a dessert. She would let us take a bite of the dessert first. Momma passed the gift to Sandra and she bakes just like her (not me, I can’t boil water without burning it). Sandra’s desserts are so tummy loving that you want to eat them first. So we decided to give you the same opportunity to enjoy dessert first. Why wait? But don’t forget to save room for the entree. Enjoy with Love! Sandra and Kathy

This is a handwritten personal thank you note that is typed (smile). I thank all of you that wished me a happy birthday and those that came out to celebrate with me. I am eternally grateful for your kindness. I am so grateful that Yahweh gives me another day to be kind, loving and gentle. It was a cold day in February, 2026 that I was sitting at table 401 at Shugga Hi and Glen asked me what I was doing for my birthday, and I said nothing. Truthfully, I have not been celebrating since Sandra transitioned to do bigger and better things. He said, I am going to throw you party. Glen and Dennis, thank you for not only throwing the party, but paying for it. It was top notch. Glen, you know you can emcee! You see I met them both at Shugga Hi and we have been friends every since. I have met a lot of friends at Shugga Hi. It is home. I am wealthy not because of money, but because of friends and family. I have friends that will call me and check on me and ask if I need anything. And without pretense, will provide. You know who you are. Thank you and I love you. Some of you didn't make it out. Don't worry, this is the beginning. We will celebrate later. When I call you, come on. Thanks to Tenette Smith. You can sho nuf sing. I am honored that you came. Cojo thanks so much. You always come through. Thanks to the band, the Shuggites for providing great food and service! Thanks to the bartender and the decorators. Thanks to my friends that traveled from afar to celebrate with me. Thanks Mary, Beryl and Ursula. Love you Robbie, Larry, Landrace and Lanaris! I have not mentioned everyone, but I thank you! Now it's time rock n roll! You know I am 70? Not yet, just claiming it!

Happy Mothers Day! Come join us tomorrow May 10th, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Brunch. Pig feet, chicken and dressing, beef tips n noodles, fried fish, collards n cabbage, Mac n cheese, corn pudding, broccoli casserole, okra, hot water corn bread, peach cobbler, fried chicken, bacon,smoked sausage, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and sausage gravy, do nut casserole and much more! It's Bitsy Spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out... Can you finish that? You say Kathy what does that have to do with Shugga Hi. Nothing, I have no reason to say it. It makes no sense just like it makes no sense for you not come to Shugga Hi. We have new hours for February, 2026. FRIDAY 11 to 3, Saturday 10-3 and Sunday 10-3.
