In the fall of 1927, a fifteen-year-old girl journeyed with her parents from the mountain village of Cesuna in Northern Italy to America. Lena Traverso knew no English, but her cooking sure could talk, as she had spent countless hours being raised in the kitchen of their small family hotel. The family settled on the South Side of Chicago and Lena eventually used her talents working in a number of

local restaurants. When her sons opened their own restaurants in the Pullman and Mount Greenwood neighborhoods in 1962, “Mama T” came on board, bringing along her cooking talents and old-world recipes. Traverso’s opened in Orland Park, Illinois in 1974, and has since been dedicated to preserving the cooking of their native Cesuna in warm and friendly surroundings. It has long been our feeling that there are two places where you can dine in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere – your home and ours. Welcome to ours.

Hello Traverso's friends!

Sorry for the late notice but we will be serving corned beef and cabbage tonight (Saturday) and on St. Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17. Meal includes sliced corned beef over boiled cabbage, boiled new potatoes and our delicious horseradish cream sauce. Cost is $32.95
This special may be offered tomorrow (Sunday) depending on supplies.

Tonight features the return of our all-you-can-eat fish fry. The meal includes soup or salad, house beer-battered cod, home cut fries and homemade cole slaw. We will continue our Friday fish fries throughout Lent, concluding on Good Friday, April 3.

Starting at 5 pm on this Sunday, Jan. 18, we will be offering $2 miller lite drafts, $5 well drinks and $5 off any family sized pizza. Dine in only please.

Come watch the Bears-Rams game on one of our four large TVs in our beautiful lounge area, with seating for up to 70.

We will be closed this Sunday, Easter Sunday, April 20. Happy Easter to you and your families.

Also, this Friday, Good Friday, April 18, will mark our final Fish Fry of the Lenten season.

Good afternoon Traverso's friends!

For the remaining Fridays during Lent, we will be offering our rather tasty all-you-can-eat beer battered cod dinner, served with home-cut fries, coleslaw, homemade tarter sauce, and soup or salad.

Also, this weekend we are featuring our renowned corned beef and cabbage, served with boiled new potatoes and homemade horseradish cream sauce. Also served with choice of soup or salad. This special will be available on Saturday, March 15 and St Patrick's Day, Monday, March 17. Depending on demand, we may offer the dinner on Sunday, March 16 as well. TBD.

Tonight we are featuring our all-you-can-eat beer-battered cod fish fry. This entree includes soup or salad, home-cut fries and our handmade coleslaw.

Saturday and Sunday we will be offering Corned Beef and Cabbage, served with carrots, potatoes and our delicious horseradish cream sauce, soup or salad.

Good afternoon Traverso's friends:

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Feb. 19, we will be reopening for dinner on Mondays. Our "spaghetti night" will now move from Wednesdays back to Mondays, with baby back rib night filling the Wednesday void. Our hours moving forward will be Monday-Saturday, open 4 p.m. Sundays open 3 p.m.

Good afternoon Traverso's friends!

This weekend we are bringing back, by popular demand, our beef tenderloin sliders:

Three angus tenderloin sliders, topped with a creamy gorgonzola sauce, sweet onion jam, and tender field greens. Served on toasted brioche buns.

And our entree: Parmesan Lingunine: Sauteed chicken and mushrooms with roasted red peppers in a parmesan cream sauce tossed with linguine.

And just a reminder, starting Feb 19 will be reopening on Mondays. Hours are 4 p.m.-close.

Starting Monday, Feb. 19 we will reopen on Mondays every Monday at 4 p.m. Our new weekly hours will be as follows--Open daily 4 p.m., Sundays 3 p.m. We are excited to have the opportunity to reopen on Mondays after nearly 3 years and look forward to seeing you!
