Nat.
Nat Lowell.
We met 35 years ago at the Chanticleer - Seth was working in the kitchen and I was working in the dining room. Nat would come to tune the stoves . Yes, that is what I would describe him as. A fine tuner, the kind of person who understands how vital it is to keep a range maintained and tuned - just as one would keep a piano tuned. The music would not exist without Nat. He has saved us so many times it is impossible to fathom his value to us and every restaurant on this island.
Last night we hosted Nat, his wife and his youngest son, Sam.
For us it was our chance to play a symphony of gratitude for 35 years of friendship and support. Not many people care as deeply and passionately about this Island and local businesses as Nat does.
From bringing us heat to a rat encamped uninsulated winter rental on the Cliff- to finding a fan belt for our hood fan from your dad’s stash on July night Hail Mary to stay open to hooking up a stove on Christmas Eve.
You are the real deal.
Watching you and your family be our guests made my heart nearly explode.
This is us & this is everything we ever hoped we could do - we wanted to nourish people❤️
Thank you and I will make sure to share pizza in days ahead.

The Town of Nantucket is currently under a mask advisory for indoor public spaces.
Our team is following all protocols and wearing masks for their protection and yours.

SAFETY UPDATE
In response to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases on Nantucket and growing concerns regarding the highly contagious Delta variant,
we are closely following emerging guidance from the CDC & Town of Nantucket.

We THANK our guests for valuing the safety of the community by following these protocols. We have all been through an incredibly challenging chapter and going backwards right now is not an option. The safest way for us to move forward is to return to wearing masks when unable to socially distance, to practice good hygiene and to stay home if you exhibit symptoms or have exposure.

Thank you in advance for wearing a face covering ( regardless of vaccination status ) and for respecting the cautionary measures we have put in place for your safety and the safety of our staff. We have some tremendous news to share and some introductions of alignment.
Our collective joy and gratitude is an enormously powerful tonic for our social atrophy.
Our 30th year is a return to the heart and soul of the code of hospitality on the pollen path.
We are delighted to welcome Meredith FitzGerald ( on right ) to our team in the role of GM - gastronomy maven - experience curation & so, so much more. Meredith brings a wealth of experience to the helm at 12 Federal - ranging from curating intimate dinner parties as the GM at Stir in Boston to leading a culinary trek to the rolling hills of the Langhe during white truffle season, to her belief in the power of being in the moment. Meredith is truly the future of hospitality. We cannot wait for you all to meet her and experience her warmth.

Cat is a long time friend and spirit sister of Angela Raynor- they have travelled, tasted and painted together in vineyards, collaborated on beautiful charity events and during the pause reconnected on the power of the alchemical healing of wine. This collaboration is decades in the making.

Meredith is returning to The Pearl this season and is a key member literally of the Pearl family. Meredith cares profoundly about ensuring the occasions department runs in concert with her little brother’s culinary world.
Meredith jumped into support the family after a career coordinating events and fundraising at The March of Dimes. An avid walker, sailor, tennis player and estate sale seeker, Meredith’s genuine wish is to make each guests experience extraordinary.

Chef’s Table(s) Dispatch-
Thank you to the Town of Nantucket & truly, everyone for supporting outdoor dining in 2020 - looking onward to creating safety & beautiful dining experiences in summer 2021. We have been working hard to listen, innovate, evolve and learn during the winter pause. We have not left the island in over a year physically - but we have virtually been all over the world connecting with the hospitality-culinary community to support relief, change, safety, equity and learn with each other.
We are incredibly grateful to - these groups have been literal lifeboats, havens of hope and advocates for relief and proponents of change during the past year.
We are committed to true evolution and looking onward to the coming season - our THIRTIETH anniversary stewarding 12 Federal is 12.31.21 - SURREAL. We will be updating our website later this month with more details on our summer schedule & culinary offerings. We will re-open late May with takeout & early June for outdoor dining. It was heartbreaking for us to have Boho in hibernation all last year - we could never have imagined the challenges and loss we have all faced. In the meantime - we miss you all like crazy - stay safe, wear your masks, be kind to yourself and others🕊
