Farewell to Lulu’s Cafe and Hello to New Beginnings

On February 14, 2011, at 35 years old, I opened Lulu’s Cafe with nothing more than a dream, a lot of determination, two little kids, then just 10 and 6, and supportive family and friends cheering me on. The economy was struggling, but I was blessed to have people who believed in me. They helped fund, design, build, and bring the restaurant to life.

Sean was the very first employee, Dean joined us that July, Joanne came soon after, and The Amazing Meredith who has been at the helm leading Lulu’s to where it is today. Over the past 15 seasons, we’ve had hundreds of employees, many of whom we still consider family. Together, we’ve celebrated milestones, shared in great joys, and stood by one another through heartbreak. Every single high and low has been a privilege to experience with this community.

Today, I’m 50. My kids are now 25 and 21 and we’re now a family of 14 and I’m a grandmother! As life changes so does business and plans for the future. I’ve made the bittersweet decision to close Lulu’s Cafe at the end of the 2025 season. But this is not goodbye, just a new chapter.

In 2026, we’re joining forces with the team at the Conch Cafe in Garden City, where we’ll continue serving our amazing breakfasts complete with smiling faces right on the oceanfront.

This announcement comes with a full heart. Thank you to each and every one of you for the love, support, and memories you’ve shared with us over the years. A house isn’t a home without family to fill it up, and that’s exactly what our guests have become to us FAMILY.

Here’s to a great fall season ahead… and to exciting new beginnings in 2026.
