SCAMAROO 😮💨
For years, getting into Bonnaroo was a goal of ours.
When someone approached us claiming they were partnering with Bonnaroo to create a cannabis-themed section called “Cannaroo,” we thought this was finally our opportunity.
They used Bonnaroo’s name.
They used Bonnaroo’s artist lineup.
They used Bonnaroo’s marketing.
And we believed it was legitimate.
So we prepared like it was going to be one of the biggest events in Overtime Wingz history.
We purchased inventory for a massive crowd.
We rented additional freezers because we bought more product than we could store.
We rented a trailer for an entire week because we were told we’d be operating around the clock.
We hired staff and invested heavily into making sure we were ready.
By the time it was all said and done, we were over $16,000 invested.
Then reality hit.
The event had absolutely no affiliation with Bonnaroo.
None.
The organizer was simply using their name, branding, lineup, and reputation to attract vendors and make the event appear legitimate.
What we thought was Bonnaroo turned out to be Scamaroo.
Was it an expensive lesson? Absolutely.
But every setback comes with a lesson.
We learned to verify partnerships directly with event organizers.
We learned to ask more questions before committing capital.
And we learned that sometimes entrepreneurship comes with tuition payments you never signed up for.
The money hurt.
The disappointment hurt.
But one thing about Overtime Wingz… we don’t quit.
We’ll recover, we’ll keep building, and when the REAL opportunities come, we’ll be ready.
BEWARE of CannaRoo Festival (they have no affiliation with Bonaroo. Spread the word )
