🇩🇪 THIS WEEKEND: SAUERBRATEN! 🇩🇪
We may be celebrating Oktoberfest, but this weekend we’re taking a little trip north from Bavaria!
Sauerbraten is one of Germany’s great regional classics, particularly associated with the Rhineland. Beef is marinated for several days in a mixture of vinegar, w**e and spices, then slowly braised until wonderfully tender and served with its distinctive sweet-and-sour gravy.
At Nick’s, we serve ours with Spätzle and red cabbage - proper German comfort food for fall.

IT’S NATIONAL COFFEE DAY!
And we think the Europeans have the right idea: coffee isn’t something to rush. It’s something to sit down and enjoy.

Many of you know already that we take our coffee specialties very seriously at Nick's! Our Latte is served European-style in a glass, with those beautiful layers of rich espresso and creamy steamed milk - almost too pretty to stir. Almost.

So after your Schnitzel, Spaetzle or Oktoberfest feast, stay a little longer, order a latte and enjoy the very European tradition of lingering over a good cup of coffee.

🇩🇪 OKTOBERFEST WEEKS: LEBERKÄSE! 🇩🇪

If you’ve spent time in Bavaria, you probably know this one! Leberkäse is a classic Bavarian specialty — despite the name literally translating to “liver cheese,” traditional Bavarian Leberkäse actually contains neither liver nor cheese. 😄

Think of it as a finely ground, seasoned meat loaf that’s baked until it develops that wonderful browned crust, then cut into thick slices.

For Oktoberfest Weeks at Nick’s, we’re serving ours the way a proper hearty German meal should be: pan-seared Leberkäse topped with a fried egg, served over our bacon fried potatoes with caramelized onions, with mustard on the side.
Simple, hearty, and VERY German.
