Happy Friday! Wow what a week it has been 😲 Well no matter what else is happening you still gotta eat!! Right?!?! I am busy with Taste of Our Town Tours and loving it AND also busy putting together the curriculum for our upcoming Cooking Classes. So I want to hear from you! Let me hear what is important to you to learn...styles, cuisines, types of equipment I.e. Instant Pot, Air Fryer etc. I can't wait to hear your ideas😍

Happy Fall!! It's been awhile so I wanted to update everyone on what is happening :-) I am very happy to announce that I have taken over Mount Dora Taste of Our Town! We invite you to join us for a guided tasting tour as we explore our historic town of Mount Dora. We will drop in on a hand-picked selection of our Charming restaurants, Gourmet Food Shops, local Wine Bistro & Brewery. A variety of Specialty Foods, wines and various Libations will be included. As we stroll through our beautiful tree-lined streets we will savor a taste of the rich art culture, fun history and Lakeside beauty of Mount Dora.

I want to take this time to bring an update to our sweet little community about the future of The Loft.

I always think of a business; particularly a restaurant, in the first 3 years and being in its infancy. When I think in those terms, I am acutely aware that it is living but fragile and vulnerable. We just celebrated our 2nd Birthday in February.

I know that we have ALL been deeply affected in a variety of ways throughout this GLOBAL Pandemic including shock, fear, uncertainty, depression, anger and more but also realization of creativity, priorities, joy, simplicity and just slowing down and reevaluating…and that is not all bad; in fact there is a sweetness if we choose to look at it without negativity and with a hopeful spirit.

So, I promise you all that is with a very heavy heart that I must let you know that The Loft will not be re-opening. It has been an EXCRUCIATING decision and as literally every angle was considered it just became the only choice that I could arrive at. I have truly invested blood, sweat and tears into making The Loft a success. No one could have imagined that we would have collectively been thrust into the world that we see today.

My peers would agree I am certain that staffing challenges are a hardship in our industry and turnover presents innumerable obstacles in trying to manage the day to day operations with consistency. When you add in the specificity of the menu that we offer, and it becomes even more challenging. We had just arrived at the perfect balance with our team and then COVID-19 descended upon us. Our very quaint and historic location tucked away on the 2nd floor presented many challenges in trying to weather this virus and ultimately just made it impossible for us to continue.

Okay, what is next…I LOVE this community and have many ideas and plans that I will be executing over the coming months. While there a deep sense of loss and a grieving process I am also so excited about the future.

I ask each of you to please support our downtown businesses in any way that you are able. You are our life blood and the reason we all pour ourselves to making our passions and ideas come to fruition.

I will bring up dates as they become Reality.

Greetings from J- and the Crew @ The Loft-

We just wanted to bring you up to date on The Loft and our potential plan for reopening. The state recently unveiled its Phase One plan to slowly allow the reopening of restaurants as of May 4th and some restaurants across the state have opened their dining rooms at 25% capacity. Although, We are excited for our peers and neighbors and wish them success we have made the tough decisions that we will not be reopening at this time. We will continue to monitor and reassess in hopes of sooner rather than later.

This is due in part to ensure the complete safety of our guests as well as staff. This coupled with the feasibility of operating at 25% capacity will mean that we will remain closed for the time being. Our unique location; tucked away on the 2nd floor has presented challenges regarding Take Out so we opted not to offer but will reevaluate over the coming days to see if that could potentially be a viable option for us while maintaining safety first.

We miss all of you so much and we hope to see you soon!

Happy Saturday! We want to take a minute to reassure our guests that as always we are taking every precaution to ensure sanitation in ALL areas of our restaurant. This includes our precious staff...with regards to both their health and hygiene😊
That being said, for the next few weeks at least we will still offer our Brunch on Sundays however we will be serving it from our kitchen as opposed to having it set up buffet style. It will of course still be unlimited and our staff will make sure you Do not leave hungry!
