Here in the heat of an Oklahoma July, traditionally I would be encouraging customers to order cakes with fresh fruits… But not this year. Until I hear more positive things about the fresh produce (strawberries blackberries blueberries in particular) I will not be using any fresh produce on my cakes. Keep in mind that once the items are baked, they will be safe to consume (strawberry cake is still going to be very popular, as are blueberry muffins). I hope these produce woes are resolved quickly!!

I would like to address the issue of the E. coli in the water – the moment that I heard that this was the case, anything that I had made with the water in the past 48 hours was quickly removed. I made all new buttercream, all new sugar cookie glaze all this with bottled water. If I have water to add to any baked goods I used bottled water there as well. (most of the time it’s sour cream Or milk!)
