I will be at this amazing event this weekend with so many cookies! ! So excited!
Just a few days from now in Owego, New York, the Owego Strawberry Festival gets going as one of the tastiest and most memorable events of the year here in the state! Running June 18th through June 20th in downtown Owego, this beloved celebration returns for its 44th year with three full days of small-town fun, live entertainment, food, shopping, and just about every strawberry treat you could hope for.
Things begin on Thursday, June 18th, with the timed Strawberry Festival Rock and Run 5K at Hickories Park, giving the weekend a fun, active start before the downtown streets fill up with festival crowds. On Friday, June 19th, the heart of Owego turns into a busy summer block party with vendors, games, food stands, live music, more than 20 bands, and a fireworks show to wrap up the night. Then on Saturday, June 20th, the big parade steps off at 9:30 a.m., bringing local groups, veterans, businesses, fire trucks, emergency vehicles, marching bands, floats, and plenty of hometown pride through the village.
All weekend long, the festival is packed with strawberry shortcake, ice cream, lemonade, slushies, sweet snacks, and summer favorites, along with plenty of booths and local shopping throughout the historic downtown. The 2026 theme is “Sweet Liberty,” a nod to America’s 250th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is a fitting theme for a village with so much history of its own, sitting along the Susquehanna River as the county seat of Tioga County. Owego’s downtown also leads visitors toward the 1879 Tioga County Courthouse, a National Register-listed landmark known as the oldest functioning courthouse in New York!
