**Announcement**

With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce that Char19 will not reopen at the previous location, following a kitchen fire that unexpectedly shuttered the restaurant in March.

We have thought and prayed over this decision for months. First and foremost was our concern for our guests, who were so supportive of our efforts to grow a local restaurant, who allowed us to be part of their special memories, and who made this endeavor truly worthwhile. As a small business, we also considered the impact closing would have on our employees, who grew along with us and became our family. Reaching the decision to close under these circumstances was not easy.

Ultimately, though, our desire to continue to serve our guests succumbed to reality. Although the fire was largely confined to a small area, smoke damage impacted the entire restaurant, requiring an extensive rebuild. The possibility of being closed for several more months while contractors work, the uncertainty of basically starting over after being closed for so long, and the loss of income weighed heavily in favor of our decision.

We are keeping the Char19 brand alive and are currently in the process of opening Pour, a specialty wine and cocktail bar, in North Monroe. Gift cards that were purchased through Char can be redeemed at our new establishment. We hope that many of you who stopped in for a drink or a bite to eat at Char 19 will visit us for the same great service and atmosphere. Please visit us on our page at Pour by Char 19.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Char19 a special place. We were truly blessed to have you in our lives and to be able to serve you. We hope one day soon we will be to be able to embark on this adventure with you again in a different location. Weโ€™re looking forward to that. We are truly blessed to have been able to serve you. Thank you for all the love, laughter, good times, and the support. We hope to see you all again soon.

If Covid wasnโ€™t hard enough on the restaurant industry, Char 19 had a kitchen fire last night that will put us out of business for a few months. We want to thank everyone for checking on us through all the phone calls and text. We are devastated and appreciate all of you for reaching out. We want to thank Monroe Fire Dept for responding to the 911 call. Your promptness probably saved the building. To the person who drove by and called 911, thank you so much. Thank you to all of our dedicated and loyal customers. You have no idea how much it means to us. We will bounce back from this and look forward to seeing everyone soon.
