Ben Flournoy was 10 when he saw Marty McFly play “Johnny B. Goode” in Back to the Future. He got his hands on a guitar and never let go.

He taught himself to play growing up in Quincy, Florida, drawing on blues, rock, pop, and soul as he found his sound. This year, he played the main stage at SXSW. Next month, he heads to Australia for Blues at Bridgetown.

Before he goes, catch the Ben Flournoy Trio in Monroe. It’s a Sunday show, so music starts earlier than usual.

Turn the sound up for this one. Athens blues-rock trio Terraplane Blue had David’s 105 rocking the last time they played here, and we’re excited to have them back this Friday.

Terraplane Blue is Doug Peters on guitar and vocals, John Straw on bass, and Dean Johnston on drums. Charles Savage was filling in for Dean on drums in this clip. Local musician Landyn Francis will kick the night off.

🎃 We’re excited to announce that Jontavious Willis is coming back to David’s 105 on Halloween night.

He played an incredible show here in September, and now he’s back with The Blues Crusaders. The Grammy-nominated Georgia bluesman plays blues rooted in the Delta, Piedmont, Texas and gospel traditions.

This time, he’ll share the stage with:
🎸 Stephen Hull, runner-up and Best Guitarist at the 2024 International Blues Challenge
🥁 JD Dukes, an Atlanta touring drummer who plays blues, jazz, gospel, and Latin music
🎸 Rodrigo Mantovani, a Brazilian-born bassist who has played with the Nick Moss Band

Our friend Eddie Hinton, a local area bluesman, will also take the stage for a few songs.

This is one of my favorite open mic performances (Blackwater Still). I love a sad song. I love a stripped down song that feels vulnerable. And I love those moments when it feels like it’s just you, the performer, and the song, but the whole room is feeling it together.

That’s why music is never background noise here.

I had closed the signup date for open mic because we were planning to have a band tonight. They had to cancel, and I forgot to reopen signups because I’ve been sick, and I’m human. If you want to play, text me at 657-475-7094, and I’ll get you on the list.

We’re very happy to finally share this one.

Tyler Ramsey is coming to David’s 105 Listening Room on Wednesday, November 4 for a solo show.

You may know Tyler from his years as guitarist and songwriter with the GRAMMY-winning Band of Horses, or from the solo work he’s been making throughout his career. His music brings together indie folk and rock, thoughtful songwriting, and the intricate guitar playing that has been at the center of his work for years.

This will be a chance to hear those songs in a solo setting with Tyler, his guitar, and a small seated room.

Tickets go on sale this Friday 10/2 at 10 am.

This clip is from one of the last times Cam Norton played the 105. He’s back this Saturday fresh off the road as a guitar tech for Drivin & Cryin. Cam’s a great storyteller, and he’s got road stories to share alongside the great music he always brings to our stage.

His solo set draws from Americana, bluegrass, country, funk, and soul. If that sounds like your kind of music, come hear him live in Monroe. It’s always a great night when Cam plays. 💚

You’re hearing Eddie King on electric guitar here, but Saturday he’s celebrating the release of his acoustic album, Acoustic Silhouettes. He’ll play acoustic versions of songs he’s released before along with new material. Several special guests will be joining him also.

Eddie is incredibly talented, but my favorite thing about him is how he shows up for others. When my dad’s favorite guitars were stolen, Eddie posted about it in music groups from here to Tennessee. Then he brought a guitar up to the room for my dad.

We’re lucky to have people like Eddie in our community. If you know him, come support him. If you don’t, come meet him.
