All the 🍂 FALL 🍂 things! 🥰

Today at JBohnBishop Mercantile: our Lakeside Local Market is on rain or shine! ☔️

Step back in to 1692 and the Salem Witch Trials era with our most recent main display featuring this month’s JBohnBishop Book Club selection, Freida McFadden’s ✨brand new✨, The Witch.

Even though our official launch of Blind Date with a Book was last weekend and ELEVEN were immediately gone, we got busy and wrapped twelve more to fill the dating pool! 🤭

📖 These books are thoughtfully curated by J Bohn and put together with the help of literally every member of our team from the beautiful wrapping, to stuffing each package with chocolates, bookmarks, pens, highlighters, sticker patches, book review cards— topped off with a little dried baby’s breath. From formatting the genre & “clue” cards, to printing, cutting and attaching to the back of the package, we can say without a doubt that these were most definitely not just thrown together! 🥰

We think our biggest hit of the day is going to be Margie's Coffee’s adorable Mini Charcuterie Pumpkins! These turned out amazing! 🙌

To follow up on yesterday’s post regarding off-site events, we’re definitely turning the dial UP on in-store events, parties & fun promos! ↗️

Folks don’t typically come to us for anything specific, except for the experience they know they’ll have. We are most definitely to be trusted as a top place to visit when your friends come to town! 😊

Experience is what we’re known for and an experience you will get! Like last Friday… when we went on a duck hunt! 🦆 Some of y’all came in just to see the way we decorated our duck blind and marsh, grabbed a coffee, and just soaked it all up. 🥰

So blessed we could have Catie in from college, along with Jules, Margaret and J Bohn… all in uniform! 🧡

Shoutout to Keith for “letting us” raid your shed. We know you didn’t have a choice since you were on an actual bird hunt in Maine! 😆

And right on time for our fifth year in business... all the REAL growing pains begin.

Sometimes those pains come from having to make hard decisions, such as changing traditions, and coming to the realization that you literally can't do everything... or you'll never really truly grow. Or you will and you'll die trying.

For the past two years on this day, we'd have been setting up for one of the most gorgeous events in the region, if not the state. When we first participated in Mountain View Vintage Market in 2024, we would have never imagined just how much would change at JBohnBishop Mercantile in such a short time.

As much as we LOVE being part of this amazing market alongside SO many of our friends, we're certainly FEELING the weight of five years of off-site events! Between the packing, loading, hauling, setting up, tearing down, and countless hours of behind-the-scenes prep, it's actually insane the toll it takes both physically and mentally, ESPECIALLY when we love to host events ourselves!

J Bohn stepped back one day and said... "we almost forgot that driving people in to the storefront for the experience we work really hard to create was the point all along."

This beautiful event and the hospitality shown by Jennifer Lesniak was a huge milestone in the growth of the Mercantile. We met SO many wonderful customers at this venue and now it's time to take care of them when they travel to see us in our "natural habitat."

BUT... 10 years of Mountain View?! Ain't no way. J Bohn has been attending or participating in this market since 2018! We definitely weren't missing the opportunity to celebrate with them! Instead, we're incredibly excited to be SPONSORING Mountain View Vintage Market THIS WEEKEND for their 10th Anniversary! 🎉

Growth doesn't always mean leaving something behind. Sometimes it just means finding a new way to be part of something you love. Here's to supporting our fellow small business friends and embracing all the beautiful growing pains that come with chasing big dreams. 🥹

It’s the final day of the Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour and JBohnBishop Mercantile along with Margie's Coffee Spot enjoyed being an official Rest Stop for the weekend!

For two more hours you can swing by to see Samantha and sample our Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn as well as grab Lotus and coffee cans from the cooler!

Until 5pm, you can purchase tickets at any of the 8 homes to tour some of the most gorgeous homes on Smith Mountain Lake!

We took our lunch break at Nauti MO's Grill (basically our neighbors) to visit Mark & Brenda for some of our favorite BBQ!

Lovin’ this cozy little weekend! 🥰

Up before the ducks! 😬

Margaret, Margie's Coffee Spot, is pregaming in the Duck Blind before the big Duck Hunt beginning at 10am. Y’all can stop by and grab your first drink before 10 though (Coffee Bar open 7am-3pm) but make plans to return for the action where you’ll hunt for dozens of mini ducks to claim your discount or prize!

*Please leave the duck decoys WHERE they are after you’ve discovered WHAT they are to help make our life easier. Only one duck per customer can be used at checkout. 🦆

What the duck did you think we were gunna do?? 🧐

We weren’t playin’ when we said we were celebrating opening day of duck hunting season here in Virginia tomorrow, 10/9!

We’ve got all of our ducks in a row 😉 and we are READY for one of the most prepped for— decor wise— events we’ve ever had. 🦆

It’s simple. Margie's Coffee Spot is the Duck Blind. JBohnBishop Mercantile is the Marsh.

Spend your Friday out on the Mercantile Marsh with us, get in the Duck Blind for something yummy to drink, and get to callin’ them ducks. There are plenty flyin’ but don’t be confused with the paper ones. Those are NOT the ducks you’re hunting for.

You wanna keep your eyes peeled for the mini resin ducks that are attached to a white JBohnBishop card. There are dozens hidden around the store. Some are decoys, some have fun discounts and prizes attached. After you’ve found five decoys in a row you’re out… some days out on the water are just like that. 😒

We cannot wait for you to experience our first ever Hunting for a Duck: Margie’s Duck Blind + The Mercantile Marsh — PS: we’re a Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour Rest Stop all weekend long and we’re poppin’ up a complimentary Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn bar for you to sample on the go. Huntin’ ducks, touring homes or both… we’ll make sure you’re well caffeinated and stocked on snacks! 💚

On Saturday we had the honor of being a part of Taleah Tuck’s Bingo & Fashion Show fundraiser, The Lorent Legacy, which gave 100% back to Lake Christian Ministries here at SML!

Having the J Bohn girls share the runway with Taleah’s was so much fun! At only 21 years old, this girl is doing big things in our community and we’re so proud to support her!

Special thanks goes out to Sara Taylor, Margaret Bryant (Margie's Coffee Spot) and for spending their Saturday night being the absolute most gorgeous models, helping to raise money for such a wonderful cause. 🤗

Y’all have been waiting on this for FIVE years! 😅

As of today, 10/6, we have made some of the biggest alterations to our hours since opening in 2022. NO MORE just opening at noon. We’ll be 10-5pm Tuesday-Friday (& Sundays will remain 12-4), allowing us more time with our Margie's Coffee Spot friends!

The beautiful French pocket doors that Margaret’s husband installed to have closed when she’s open and we’re not have been serving as the best “storefront window,” allowing y’all to peer in to see our clothing line. Now, if you’re in at 10am on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, you can walk on through!

Opening Thursdays and Fridays at 10am since the launch of the Coffee Bar in August has proven itself so we’re confident in these changes. Rest assured— we do not take or make alterations to our hours lightly. There’s always research and testing to back it.

Once, a long time ago, we asked what worked for everyone on our hours and the response we received from one customer completely stuck with us. “Do what works best for you and your staff. We’ll be there either way!” That meant so much to us and the truth is, what we’ve been doing has worked and it hasn’t been until now that we feel super comfortable with the change. That Coffee Bar stays poppin’ so here we are! 💁‍♀️🥰🤣

You’ll see below this says “October Hours.” We only titled it as that since we’re heading in to the holiday season. We certainly won’t be taking any hours away but potentially adding hours if anything to give y’all the maximum opportunity to holiday shop! 😍
