When I got the call that I needed to head to New York, I stopped by The Barony House to ask Michelle if she could help cover things while I was gone. Without a moment’s hesitation, she looked at me and said, “We’ll make it happen.” The beautiful part? She wasn’t even going to be there herself.

And yet… she absolutely made it happen.

Because of her and her team, these BHS Blue Brigade Band Boosters kids were treated to homemade spaghetti with meat sauce and Italian bread, and it was a huge hit. They have now enjoyed incredible pasta dishes from three different restaurants. When I asked them to pick a favorite, they couldn’t do it—they just smiled, laughed, and refused to choose. 😂 I even reminded them that I’m the one who coordinates their meals and makes sure they always have full bellies… still no luck. 🤣😭

But beyond the food, what really matters is what this meant for them. In a moment when I couldn’t be here, Michelle and The Barony House stepped in and made sure 130 teenagers felt cared for, seen, and looked after. That kind of support doesn’t just fill stomachs—it lifts stress off my shoulders and fills a gap with genuine love and community.

A heartfelt thank you to Michelle and everyone at The Barony House. Your generosity, your willingness to step up without being asked twice, and your kindness toward my students meant more than I can ever fully express. I will never forget how you showed up for my kids when it mattered most. ❤️

If you haven’t been to The Barony House lately, please go. And when you do, take a moment to thank them—for stepping in, for caring deeply, and for making a real difference when they truly didn’t have to.

Today was another incredible day of feeding our BHS Blue Brigade Band Boosters, and I’m so greatful to everyone that stepped in to make it all possible.

A huge thank you to Benny Ernesto’s for not only making delicious pizzas but also giving our band an incredibly generous discount to help make today’s lunch possible.

Thank you to Atlantis Heating & Air and Hormell Hill's Spicy Jelly for helping sponsor today’s meal.

And then… just when we thought we had it covered, Bill Dalasio came in for the win and surprised everyone by ordering extra pizzas for the kids! Judging by how quickly I heard they disappeared, I’d say they were a huge hit. 🍕💙

As if that wasn’t enough, Helene Law Mungo stepped in with her grandma-sized heart and spoiled everyone with an after-lunch treat. There is just something special about people who see a need and jump in to make kids smile.

It truly takes a village, and I am so grateful to each and every person who helped make today happen. Because of your generosity, our students were well-fed, well-loved, and ready to keep working hard.

Today’s Blue Brigade lunch was made possible thanks to the generosity of Councilman Elect Chad Sweatman of Chad Sweatman, CPA, P.C.

Supporting these incredible students takes a true community effort, and we’re so grateful for community leaders like Chad who continue to invest in the next generation. His generosity helped ensure our Blue Brigade students had a great meal to keep them fueled through another long day of band camp.

As our program continues to grow and food costs continue to rise, support from local businesses and community partners has never been more important. It truly takes a village to make this season possible.

When life throws the unexpected at you, the kindness of this community shines even brighter.

As many of you know, I have a family emergency that requires me to travel to New York on Saturday. One of my biggest concerns was making sure our Blue Brigade students were still taken care of. (Between Jenn, Jess, and the gang, Ophelia’s is covered.)

I’m so thankful to share that Monday’s lunch is officially covered with Benny Ernesto’s Pizza thanks to Benny Ernesto’s, Atlantis Heating and Air, and Hormell Hill's Spicy Jelly. Bill Dalasio went over to Benny’s and added extra pies for the kids! We have about 130 teenagers and we will definitely now be able to give each kid a whole jumbo Benny’s slice and double cut some for seconds! 💙💛

And tonight Helene Law Mungo stepped in like the most amazing GiGi that she is and provided snacks for the kids while I’m gone!

I also want to give a very special thank you to Michelle and The Barony House for stepping up and covering Tuesday’s lunch.

These kids are getting so spoiled while I’m away (it takes a huge load off of my heart). I doubt these kids are going to want me back, they are going to be living the good life while I’m away.

On a more serious note the willingness of these businesses and community members to jump in without hesitation is exactly what makes this small town so special. The support they continue to show our kids is truly inspiring. Because of generous people like them, our students can focus on what they do best while knowing they are cared for.

There are people who quietly make a difference year after year, and then there are people like Lee Kennedy and Brittani Kennedy.

For the last four years, they have helped make sure our BHS Blue Brigade Band Boosters students are fed during band camp. But their generosity doesn’t stop with meals.

As owners of Kennedy's Grading, Excavation & Materials, a second-generation, family-owned business that proudly serves the Moncks Corner community, Lee and Brittani have built more than a successful local business—they’ve built a reputation for giving back. Whether it’s supporting our schools, youth programs, or local organizations, they continually invest in the community they call home.

If there’s a fundraiser, a need, an opportunity to support our kids, or a way to make their experience better, chances are you’ll find the Kennedy name on it. They never hesitate to step up. They believe in these students, invest in this program, and continually show our band family what community support truly looks like.

Our kids may not always see everything that happens behind the scenes, but they absolutely feel the impact of people like Lee and Brittani. Their kindness, generosity, and unwavering support have helped create opportunities, memories, and moments that these students will carry with them for years to come.
