Wintzell's Oyster House Wintzell's proudly celebrates its 88th year as a dining landmark, known far and wide for its oysters — "fried, stewed or n**e."

While oysters headline the iconic brand, Wintzell's menu comprises fresh Gulf seafood dishes as well as regional favorites, including award-winning seafood gumbo, homemade bread pudding and two specialties native to Mobile: West Indies salad and fried crab claws. What began in 1938 as a six-stool oyster bar has evolved considerably ever since, earning recognition by national and regional publications as a "must experience" destination for both locals and tourists alike. The walls of all Wintzell's restaurants are covered with thousands of Oliver's homespun sayings, offering a lively, casual and unmistakably southern atmosphere. [UPDATE]: power is back on and we’re open till 10pm tonight. Thank you, Alabama Power!

Like many across Mobile, our Downtown Mobile location is without power today, but our West Mobile and Saraland locations are now open and ready to welcome you. Come see us!

A big thank-you to the power crews and lineworkers working hard this weekend to get the lights back on. We’re hoping to be back shuckin’ oysters on Dauphin Street tomorrow!

We've weathered our fair share of storms since opening our doors in 1938, and we've learned a thing or two along the way.

With Hurricane Isaias approaching the Gulf Coast, Wintzell's three Mobile County locations — Downtown Mobile, West Mobile and Saraland — will be closed Friday, October 9, for the safety of our team members and guests.

We plan to reopen Saturday, weather permitting, and look forward to welcoming you back.
