I was invited to share my story with the literacy camp at Maryvale Elementary. I was so excited because I went to Maryvale 1st through 5th grade. I was given a tour of the school and was able to see my first and third grade classroom. The school is much bigger than when I attended in the late seventies. The children were so polite and engaging. I served them ice cream and opened the floor for questions. I was asked how old I was when I bought Old Dutch, how did I learn to make ice cream, how many shops do I have and so many more good questions. They clapped so loud and made me feel at home.
So a big shout out to the students and teachers at Maryvale Elementary.

Making lots of ice cream today and started reminiscing about my childhood favorites. Maryville Elementary, on payday we got to buy ice cream and it was always the orange dream sickle bar for me. So I just had to whip this up. It’ll be available Tuesday at all three of my shops . Homemade vanilla ice cream swirled with orange sorbet.
