What I love about soup making is the adventure of opening up the fridge and the cupboards and finding what’s left over to make a delicious soup on a cold evening.

This week we are enjoying a hearty vegetable soup with bacon and sausage and homemade honey oat bread.

Hello All! It’s been a long time. Honestly, the year has been a little hard on us. Ritter and I both sustained server leg injuries this year and have been laying low.

However, it’s time to get back up and get back in the kitchen. We can not open full time but we will be offering select dates for delivery to begin paying off the expansive medical bills.

As fall approaches it’s time for cinnamon rolls. We will be offering no contact take and bake cinnamon roll delivery to your front door Sept 19 and Sept 26 .

We will be offering Traditional, Gluten Free and Pumpkin Pie Filled Rolls.

P A R T O N E: The Cake

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
2 Tsp Baking Powder
1 Tsp Salt
1 cup Butter
4 Eggs
1 cup milk
1 Tsp Almond extract
1 Tsp Vanilla extract
1/4 poppyseeds

Instructions:

Prepare you two 8” round cake pans. I coat the pans in a generous amount of butter and flour. You can also use parchment paper. Pre heat over to 325*.

Stir together 3 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 2 Tsp baking powder, 1 Tsp salt. Mix in 1 cup of soft butter chopped into small squares. With mixer combine until the flour and butter mixture is the texture of sand.

In a set of separate bowls. Separate 4 egg yolks and egg whites. Beat egg whites to a stiff peak, set aside.

In a liquid measuring cup combine 1 cup milk, 4 egg yolks, 1 tsp of vanilla and almond extract. Add to flour mixture and stir for 2 minutes.

With spatula fold egg whites and 1/4 cup poppyseeds into the cake mixture. Do not over mix. Cake batter should be light.

Bake cakes on the middle rack of your oven for 35-45 minutes. Depends on your oven and altitude. To ensure it is cooked insert a tooth pick into the middle of the cake. Tooth pick should come out clean.

Allow cake to completely cool before decorating!
