Round up at the register this October to support Little Earth Residents Association. Little Earth is home to the largest community of Native Americans in the Twin Cities. The residents association's work reduces service barriers facing their community by centering the voices of everyone, like their Urban Farm that provides 100 days of food security for 1,000 residents. This month, your donations will help support teaching youth members of Little Earth to build and operate an outdoor hydroponics system on the farm.

National Latinx Heritage Month begins today, a time to celebrate and honor the culture and contributions of those living in the United States whose ancestors came from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, and Spain. We're starting the month with a reflection from Marketing Director, Natalia Mendez (they/them): "While I cannot change how history has reshaped my culture, I can choose how I celebrate." This summer has been full of heavily publicized food recalls from large-scale producers. Leafy greens, eggs, jalapeños, sprouts, and blueberries, just to name a few. These outbreaks can happen when food is grown, processed, packaged, and shipped at a massive scale.

As a cooperative business, Seward Co-op considers how industrial-sized food complexes operate very differently from small-scale, local producers. Smaller-scale operations mean fewer hands on the product, and many of the local producers on our shelves have a real stake in your health. Make your next shopping trip an investment in your community, and read more about this topic on our website: https://buff.ly/GT9YXMe
