Gatherings Cafe We strive to provide accessible, healthy, Indigenous food and knowledge to the urban Native and greater community in a good way.

We serve fresh, locally grown foods that are prepared using innovation mixed with ancestral knowledge. A community-embraced cafe that encourages living healthy, eating healthy and education through ancestral knowledge. Gatherings Cafe serves fresh, locally grown foods that are Indigenous and prepared in healthy ways. We are in the heart of the urban Native American community where people gather to catch up with friends and family. A place that brings about tradition, culture and fabulous food. Our goal is to educate the community and promote decolonized diets to improve the health of the Native population that has been severely impacted by colonization and the resulting historical trauma and have led to epidemics of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and other diet-related health problems.

Coffee lovers rejoice -- you can now enjoy Gatherings Cafe coffee from home! ✨

We partnered with Corner Coffee to create special Minneapolis American Indian Center branded coffee that is rooted in community.

The 12 oz whole bean bags are available in our cafe. Pick one up next time you visit!

What an honor to feed our relatives at the Minneapolis American Indian Center's Annual Gala! ✨

Our dedicated team provided appetizers, specialty mocktails, and a bison, walleye, and squash dinner to more than 200 people. The event was a celebration and opportunity to support the center's social service, workforce development, health, cultural, language, youth, and elder programs.

We're grateful to be part of the center and its legacy as a pillar in the Twin Cities urban Native community.

Boozhoo! Aŋpétu kiŋ!

Gatherings Cafe will be closed Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18.

We will be taking time away to cook dinner for the Minneapolis American Indian Center Annual Fundraising Gala on Thursday, September 17.

Apps and dinner will be made by Chef Vern and our Gatherings kitchen team. We will also have specialty teas during the social hour at 5:30pm.

There are less than 50 tickets left, last chance to buy!

🎉We're celebrating our 10th birthday this year! 🎉

Gatherings Cafe has come a long way since we opened our doors inside the Minneapolis American Indian Center a decade ago -- we started as a small cafe and catering operation, then pivoted to preparing meals for our Elders during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2024 we reopened in a new kitchen and dining space as part of the center's historic renovation and expansion.
