📚 BANNED BOOKS WEEK | OCTOBER 4–10 📚

If you’ve read Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, you’ve encountered one author’s chilling vision of a world where books, literature and ideas are suppressed.

At Shomer Press -we’re pretty firmly pro-book. 😉

But perhaps even more than that, we’re pro-conversation.

We believe we could all spend a little more time reading, listening and learning from one another. We may not agree with every idea we encounter—and that’s okay. Sometimes listening long enough to understand another person reminds us that we have far more in common than we thought.

That’s one reason we’re giving a shout-out to Banned Books Week.

Banned Books Week began in 1982 in response to a surge in challenges to books in libraries, schools and bookstores. Today it brings together readers, librarians, educators, authors, publishers and booksellers in support of the freedom to read and explore ideas.

Then keep reading.

Keep asking questions.

Keep listening.

And maybe pick up a book written by someone whose experiences or ideas are different from your own.

Because books don't require us to agree.

They invite us to think. 💙
