This is a hard one for our Live Oak family.
We are going to miss Garry’s calm, confident presence around our shops, even though seeing him usually meant something wasn’t working and needed to be fixed quickly. He would come in late, show up at a moment’s notice, or somehow just magically appear.
There really wasn’t much Garry couldn’t do. He would often say, “We’ll get it done,” and sure enough, he always did.
Over the last couple of years, we had the chance to get to know Garry even better as he helped us build out and get new Live Oak locations up and running. No matter what we threw at him, the conversation was usually the same: “Garry, can you do this?” or “Do you know how to do that?” His answer was always some version of, “Yep, I can do that too.”
And as we met more coffee shop owners and people in the area, we started realizing something. Everybody knew Garry. And everybody seemed to have the same story. He could fix anything, figure out anything, and he was an incredibly good man.
We lost a good one.
Our hearts are with Garry’s family and everyone who loved him. We are incredibly grateful for all the times he showed up for Live Oak, for everything he taught us, and especially for the friendship that grew along the way.
You’ll be deeply missed, Garry. Things just won’t be the same without you.
