‼️MBC TAPROOM RELEASE:

🗓️Friday, July 31st

🍺Saison au Chêne (Oak Saison) 4.3% ABV

Inspired by the elegant wines of Burgundy, France (the birthplace of Chardonnay) this French-style saison celebrates the blend of grain, yeast, and oak. Delicate notes of lemon, peach, pear, and apricot are complemented by a subtle peppery character that adds complexity without overwhelming the palate. Brewed with a blend of Pilsner malt, wheat malt, Vienna malt, and a touch of rye, this farmhouse ale pours a brilliant light gold, reminiscent of wildflowers stretching across the French countryside. Additions of 100% East Kent Golding hops provides a gentle, balanced bitterness.

After fermentation, the beer is rested briefly on French Oak, lending delicate oak aromatics and a refined, softly woody finish that complements the expressive yeast character rather than overshadowing it.

Saison au Chêne will be available in the MBC Taproom beginning this Friday, July 31st. Come give this unique, refreshing brew a try; and maybe try pairing it with our Michigan Salad, or our MBC Fish Dinner if you’re feeling bold!🍻

Monday on Cask? We thought we'd give Mondays a little more character. Don't expect a cask release every Monday, but when we have one ready, we'll let you know.
Today's release is our Dark Mild Table Beer.
Inspired by classic English pub ales, this Dark Mild delivers notes of fresh-baked bread, toffee, toasted malt, and light cocoa, finishing smooth and creamy. Traditional UK Fuggle hops provide a delicate earthy balance, making this remarkably flavorful ale incredibly easy to enjoy at just 3.14% ABV.
This beer is served directly from a 10-gallon firkin, just as it would have been in British pubs for centuries.
Cask ale is the oldest traditional method of serving beer and has been a cornerstone of British brewing for generations. Before refrigeration and modern draft systems, nearly all beer was served directly from casks stored in taverns and inns.
Unlike most modern draft beer, cask ale is a living beer. It is transferred into the cask before fermentation is completely finished, allowing the remaining yeast to naturally carbonate and condition the beer through a gentle secondary fermentation. Instead of being force-carbonated, the beer continues to mature until the moment it's served, creating a softer mouthfeel and exceptional depth of flavor.
You'll notice a device attached to the firkin called a cask breather. Rather than pressurizing the beer, it gently introduces a small amount of CO₂ only as beer is dispensed. This prevents oxygen from entering the cask, helping preserve the beer's freshness while maintaining the traditional low-carbonation character of true cask ale.
Come enjoy a pint while it lasts. Once the firkin is empty, it's gone.
Cheers! See less
