This is a hard post to write.
After a lot of thought, meetings, brainstorming and prayers, our 309 Jerome Street location will be closing for regular daily cafe operations after Sunday, October 18.
We always want to be transparent with our community. The construction around Jerome Street has had a much bigger impact on this location than we ever expected. Sales have dropped way over 50%, and at this point, continuing to operate it as a full cafe every day just isn’t sustainable for Boomerang.
With the slower winter months ahead, we have to make the decision that gives Boomerang the best chance to keep and stay healthy and moving forward to serving our community!
Jerome is not going away, though. We’ll be using the space for coffee roasting, baking, production, catering, private events, and other community events. As we bring roasting in-house, this location is going to become an important behind-the-scenes part of Boomerang.
Sadly, with regular cafe operations ending, our Sip & Shop markets scheduled for October 24 and 25 will also be canceled. We hate having to make that change and are incredibly thankful to the small businesses who planned to join us.
Most importantly, no one on our team is losing their job because of this change. Our Jerome team members will be relocated to our other locations.
Could Jerome become a full-time cafe again someday? Absolutely. We love this space, and we’re not closing that door. For now, this is simply the most sustainable way for us to use the space.
