This one is pretty special to me.

Most of the culinary experiences we create at Duke Farms aren’t open to the public, so having the opportunity to welcome you to our table means a lot.

This dinner brings together so much of what I love about being a chef. Cooking with the seasons, supporting our growers, celebrating the land, and showing how sustainability and really good food go hand in hand.

The Duke Farms culinary and programs teams and I are putting a lot of heart into this one, and I can’t wait to see it all come together!

November 13. Good food, great company, meaningful conversations, and hopefully some familiar faces around the table.

Let’s make it a good one!

Pressure is part of the job, especially in the hospitality industry. But one thing I’ve learned over the years is that we don’t have to create more of it before the day even begins.

I used to walk into busy services already anticipating the chaos. Eventually, I realized how much that mindset sets the tone for everyone around you.

These days, I try to lead with a different energy. Stay organized, stay ready, keep the spirits high, and give ourselves the opportunity to have a great day.

The pressure may not change, but how we show up for it absolutely can. And that makes all the difference.

What I cook is only part of the story.

The rest comes from the memories I carry, what I learn along the way, who I am, and how I care for people through food.

It’s that time of year when a lot of us small business owners are getting more inquiries, so here’s my gentle PSA.

If you reach out for services and someone takes the time to answer questions, check availability, and put together a quote, please close the loop. Even if it’s a no.

I promise, a no doesn’t hurt our feelings nearly as much as no response at all.

There’s a real person behind that business who took real time to respond. A quick “thank you, but I’m going to pass” goes a long way.

Just a little reminder from one small business owner who gets it.

Climate Week is still fairly new to my routine, but it already feels like it belongs there.

At Duke Farms, my team and I cooked for the NJ Climate Leaders Gathering. At the Doris Duke Foundation, I attended a conversation around resilient food systems, child wellbeing and food security. And, of course, I sat down for my third Climate Week dinner with Blue Hill, always one of my favorite tables to be at.

Three very different experiences, all rooted in things I care deeply about: supporting farmers, wasting less, food access, community and understanding the bigger systems behind what we eat.

Climate Week may be newer to my calendar, but the values behind it have shaped how I cook, lead and think about food for a long time.

Maybe that’s why it feels less like something I’ve stepped into and more like a place where the work I already care about belongs.
