Fall in Idaho means chilly mornings and sunny afternoons, sometimes on the same day. 🍂

Our tent is heated, so it stays warm and cozy whether you come by at 8am when it’s in the 30s or at 3pm when it’s in the 70s. We adjust it all day so it’s always the right temperature.

Five months old. A coffee trailer. On a pretty bare dirt lot.
That was Primitive Grounds when Boise Favorites voting opened last year.

We were brand new. We weren’t downtown. We didn’t have years of history behind us. We were still building this place—in some ways, quite literally.

And then you did something we’ll never forget:
You voted Primitive Grounds Best Coffee Shop. 🤍🖤

Our little coffee trailer in Old Town Meridian took Gold alongside coffee shops that have been part of Boise culture for years.

It was surprising. It was humbling. And it meant so much because we knew exactly how it happened.

You found us. You came back. You brought your friends. You told people about us. You voted.

You made us the little coffee trailer that could. ☕️
And now Boise Favorites voting is open again.

new hours. more food. same outstanding coffee + warm hospitality.

over the last two weeks, we’ve been testing a temporary schedule while we built out our food offering, figured out the best day to close, and made sure we could take care of the trailer, give our team a real reset, and still be here when you need us.

thank you for your grace and understanding while we worked through that process. we know changing hours can be inconvenient, and we really appreciate you sticking with us while we figured out what would work best for both the business and our community.

after a little trial, a lot of thought, and some actual sales research, we landed on wednesdays closed. turns out they’re our most hit-or-miss day, so this gives us the breathing room we need without taking away one of the days you count on us most.

and while the hours are settling in, the food is just getting started.

we’re building more nourishing, house-prepared breakfast + lunch options that are ready to take with you or stay awhile and eat.

over the last two weeks, our hot Primitive Farmhouse Bake with sourdough toast, Primitive Quinoa Tabbouleh Chicken Bowl, and Black Fig + Vanilla Chia Pudding have all sold out fast.

Fall vibes with every unique sip: figshade (matcha + black fig), favorite flannel (chai + toffee+ espresso), velvet orchard (cherry + orange + cardamom), and apple buckle (housemade apple syrup + espresso) — plus returning favorites like harvest moon, night bramble, and hazelwood fog.
