We're (and I'm) back to "normal"... Well, were we ever really normal??

BUT we have done a little makeover so if you haven't stopped by yet, come and check it out. The dining room has a different layout for some additional cozy vibes and more gaming tables. The date night corner/front window is beautifully updated with a seasonal feel helping you to find the good in every day... Especially needed lately.

Some updates/ things coming soon:
-Summer menu is ending at the end of August
-Fall menu starts September 1st
-We are NOT closing the week of Labor Day like we normally do
-We will be adjusting hours for fall in September... Goodbye Wednesday nights. 👎🏾
-Fall leagues start in Sept. Registration will be posted next week!
-Fall events are being added... look out for our 50/50 Cribbage Tournament in support of tornado victims coming soon!

🚨We are Opening!🚨

We will be open for regular hours starting Tuesday, August 4th!

Our internet was restored today and it appears all systems are working. 🤞🏾 We will be light on bakery as we rebuild from the week, though. But we will be stocked fully, soon.

Remember, I am on vacation with my family, but I'll try to answer emails and questions as I can.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by this weekend and have wished us all the best. All your kind words have kept us going. My staff is recovering themselves, but everyone is okay and we are ready to open. We will see you at the Lair. 💓 Bri

We are closing up a little early for the day ... It's been a long week and, I think we over did it. For the mental health of the staff, it's just been a lot. I will post another update for the week to come. Thank you everyone who came by this weekend and shared your story and gave what you could to support us and the community. We're here and have a slightly smaller case of goodies for you. Plus coffee, sandwiches, and ice cream. Open until 4 today and 10-4 tomorrow. Pay what you can, cash only. Come in for a refreshing drink, treat, and to escape the chaos. Loved seeing all the faces so far today. 💓

Opening Update ☕

We will be open this weekend... 10-4 on Saturday, August 1st and 10-4 on Sunday August 2nd.

We were struggling with the best way to open back up; there's just so much to consider. But our team is here and wanting to work! We've made the decision to open, but with a limited menu. Everything is free or pay-what-you-can, cash only. We still do not have WIFI so cannot accept card payments or process orders through our register.

There are no prices listed on our menu this weekend. We will have some hot and cold food, bakery, and coffee. We invite you to take a load off, try to relax, and enjoy the hospitality of our shop. We have games, good drinks, and yummy treats to help you decompress.

Of course timing is on our side... my family and I have our family vacation planned, we leave on Sunday. We debated cancelling our vacation, but decided against it. The kids, myself, and the rest of the family look forward to it every summer. Since I will be gone, the shop will be in the very capable hands of my team. As always, be kind and patient as they work with the added struggles of no internet and an altered menu.

Our hope is to open up fully functional on Tuesday, with our regular hours. Any pending orders or reservations for next week are still being honored.

Since I will be gone, we will not be offering a space for donations to be accepted at this time. I will be working with other downtown businesses when I return to put things in place for the second wave of support that will be needed to help uplift this community in the weeks and months to come.

Update #4 💡

We have power!! I'm standing alone in my shop with a coffee in hand and taking in the last couple days. It's been a whirlwind of emotions for sure. But I'm so thankful to all the crew out there tirelessly working to restore this amazing community. Even as times are questionable, I will always have faith in the human spirit, there is so much good in this world!

We have jumped one of our biggest hurdles... Electricity! I found out the boil water order is not for our area since we are not part of the Village of Fox Crossing utilities so water is good here too! Now we wait for the internet. We actually cannot accept any card payments without it so cannot fully open until that is back.

We also need to restock and replenish. Unfortunately, we had to toss well over $2000 worth of food product. 😭😭 We donated what we could but the buckets of ice cream soup was not something we could keep. The milk was at a temp you'd want to swim in. It was heartbreaking to have to throw things away while others were searching for food. We were able to donate our already made bakery, so I felt good about that.

The next couple days will be spent replenishing our food supply and cleaning up the floors from the minimal water damage we had. We are hoping to have some sort of open hours come this weekend, but I'm not sure what that will look like at this point. Since we cannot work without internet, we will likely be open for cash donations, only, offering a place for respite during this hard time. We also don't want to ask a bunch of people to come into Menasha while others are still trying to work and clean up their homes. It's a lot to consider, but we will make some decisions today and tomorrow and have a plan in place shortly. For now, I'm enjoying my first coffee of the week and regrouping before we begin work again. ❤️ Bri

Update #3 🌪️

Wow. That about sums it up. This community is so resilient. We will become stronger!

We finally were able to make it into the shop to assess the situation. We were extremely fortunate to have no structural damage. A leaky roof and some water/floor damage, but it's quite minor. The biggest issue is we've been without power for over a day now and weren't able to make it to the shop early enough to save product. All fridge and freezer items (yes ice cream) had to be tossed. Everything was melted. The fridges and freezers were 60-80° already! It was unsalvageable.

Luckily, we've had a decent summer and can repurchase supplies and hopefully insurance will help with the rest. We've had some very amazing friends loan us some freezer space so we can still place an ice cream order and have it ready for when we do have power.

Unfortunately, we have no idea when we will have power and water again. So, we will be closed until further notice. We are really hoping for the best case scenario, but taking each day as it comes. Of course this comes at a very poor time since my family and I have a family vacation planned for next week so hopefully we can get things squared away before then. 🤞🏾🤞🏾

Another Storm Update ⚠

We will be closed tomorrow: Tuesday, July 28th.

I first want to say, thank goodness everyone is okay. We have a few employees who live in the path of the storm and some suffered some severe damage, but everyone is okay. We are all recovering.

Unfortunately, since I do not live in town, it was impossible to make it into the shop today to assess the damage. I have heard countless reports that the shop looks good from the outside (thankfully) but all my access routes are all closed. I know we will be out some supplies (fridge and freezers without power) and will need to assess if there was any damage that was not seen by others. I'm hoping roads have cleared enough tomorrow that I can make the journey asap.

We are without power and conserving water. I am unsure how long until the power (and water) will be restored. I will do my best to update as soon as I can with the plans for the rest of the week. I know all our local residents understand the severity of what the next few days will bring.

My heart goes out to the Menasha and Appleton communities that were affected by this storm. We will be working on ways to offer our support and collecting donation items once we can be open again. More details to come. For now, take care of your neighbors and stay safe.
