I'm having a difficult day today, my Flavorful Fans.

Since Tuesday, my sister has been dealing with some severe health problems that have led to what happened this morning. This morning at around 8:30, my sister had another stroke. At the same time, she is dealing with sepsis, a kidney infection, and a urinary tract infection.

After the stroke this morning, her right eye is stuck facing up, and she is having vision problems (seeing double). Her pain is uncontrolled and is just miserable. I was speaking to her this morning around 3:30, as she needed to speak to someone, as she hasn't been able to eat anything without throwing up since early Wednesday morning.

I am exhausted. My family is exhausted. I feel bad, but I cannot sit in the hospital seeing her suffer. I am able, most of the time, to keep my emotions in check, but I started crying when I saw my sister this morning. Thank you to the friends who have listened to me just talk to help me calm down.

Now, to the reason for this post. I am still planning on being at the Downtown Appleton Farm Market in front of Bona Fide Juicery from 8-12:30. For the rest of today (Friday), I will keep the shop open (until 4 pm) as long as nothing happens at the hospital. All I wish to ask is for some patience, as I may not respond as quickly as before.

Also, (but don't feel obligated) would you guys be willing to donate a stuffed animal cat? My sister is missing our indoor cats and a kitten named Squeak. I have given her all my cat stuffed animals, but they are old. When she was going through her brain surgeries in 2020 and 2021, I bought her a new black cat stuffed animal. She hugged that thing every day.

I hope you all have an amazing Friday. I'm trying to find a way to get these thoughts out without crying. Thank you for listening.

The steps for making tea 🍵 gummies takes 2-3 days. Yesterday, I got the Elderberry Spice and Dragon 🐉 Fruit Elderberry gummies packaged. By 1pm, I had sold half the Elderberry Spice ones. I'm hopeful ☺️ that I'll have enough for Saturday at the Downtown Appleton Farm Market.

Today, from 10-4 at the shop (1535 Plank Rd, Menasha) you can pick some up. I have samples. Otherwise, I'll see you at the market tomorrow.

There is a tree that grows almost anywhere on Earth, produces leaves with more protein than eggs, more calcium than milk, and more vitamin C than oranges — and most people in the Western world learned it existed sometime in the last five years.

It's called Moringa oleifera. In parts of India, it's called "the miracle tree." In parts of Africa and Central America, it's called the drumstick tree (after its long, edible seed pods). In Ayurvedic medicine, where it's been used for over 4,000 years, it's called shigru — a name that appears in ancient Sanskrit texts as a remedy for over 300 conditions.

The leaves are the part most commonly used in tea. Dried moringa leaves have a flavor that is earthy, slightly grassy, and mild — closer to a gentle green tea than anything sharp or medicinal. They blend extremely well with other botanicals.

More importantly, the research on moringa is unusually consistent for an herbal remedy:

The antioxidant content is exceptionally high — quercetin and chlorogenic acid are both present in significant amounts; compounds called isothiocyanates are being studied for anti-inflammatory and blood sugar regulation effects.
The protein profile is complete — all essential amino acids are present in the leaf

This is a plant that has fed communities in the Global South for generations and is only now getting the attention it deserved all along.

Everything in this tea is certified organic. Eucalyptus. Hibiscus. Moringa. Ginger.

That might sound like a marketing detail. For this particular blend, it's a little more than that.

Eucalyptus carries the essential oil compounds that give it its distinct, clean, slightly mentholated character — and how those botanicals are grown affects the concentration of those compounds. Ginger is one of the most heavily treated crops in conventional agriculture. Moringa — the ingredient we wrote a blog post about today — is harvested from trees that can produce for decades, and what goes into the soil those trees grow in matters for what ends up in your cup.

Today is a tea 🍵 gummy making day at the shop. Because the last farmers market in Appleton was canceled due to the weather, we weren't able to showcase our new tea blend: Elderberry Spice.

For the last week-in-a-half, we've nearly sold out of this 😢 blend. I was originally going to have Elderberry Spice as a sample this Saturday at the market, but with our low supply I've decided to change how you can experience this flavor.

This Saturday, we will have Elderberry Spice at the market for those who wish to make it at home. At the same time, you can taste this blend in our tea gummies and sparkling ✨️ tea offering. I do not have a lot left, so it will be first come first served.

We picked and processed 15 pounds of elderberries this year. We only have 3 ounces left! 😲😯.

If you cannot make it to the Appleton Farmers Market this Saturday, the tea gummies will be available at the shop starting 😉 Thursday at noon.

The coffee lover in your life doesn't have to choose.

Sweet Espresso is a rooibos blend made with decaffeinated coffee beans, almonds, blackberry, apples, and cinnamon — and it tastes exactly like what you'd expect if coffee and tea decided to collaborate instead of compete.
