Last Sunday, Memphis lost a true original.
For years, we have been honored to sell the incredible birdhouses created by R.P. Funderburk here at Cordelia’s Market. His work was so much more than birdhouses—it was art, storytelling, craftsmanship, and a little bit of Memphis magic all rolled into one.
R.P. had a special way of creating pieces that made people stop, smile, and look a little closer. Over the years, he built custom houses inspired by Cordelia’s, Harbor Town, and so many other places and people he loved. Each one carried his creativity, humor, and unmistakable style.
R.P. was a Memphis legend whose birdhouses found homes all over the city and beyond. We are grateful to have been a small part of sharing his work with our community.
