The Arcade has the honor of being Memphis' oldest restaurant. Speros Zepatos founded the diner in 1919 after immigrating from Cephalonia, Greece. Situated at the corner of South Main Street and G.E. Patterson, the original building was a small, one story, wood framed building. Food was actualy cooked on potbelly stoves! In 1925, Speros tore down the wood structure and built the Arcade Building in a Greek revival style, complete with retail stores to signify the "Arcade" name.

We get asked all the time, “Did Elvis really eat at The Arcade?” ❤️

The answer is YES! Long before he became the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Elvis was part of the story here at The Arcade. We recently received this wonderful memory from one of our customers about his aunt Helen, who worked here while Elvis was still in high school.

Stories like this are what make 107 years of The Arcade so special. Some of our favorite history lives in the memories of the people who walked through these doors. ❤️
