About Us

The Check-in is a new mobile coffee shop serving the Memphis area owned by local organizer and artist Keedran Franklin. The Check-In is a specialty beverage retailer that offers high quality coffee and an oasis where patrons can reset, retreat, recharge so they can leave refreshed. The business utilizes a concept that features a dine-in brick and mortar location (Kaje's Cup) paired with a mobile café. The restaurant provides hot and cold beverages with convenience and time-efficiency to its customers.

Keedran Franklin is a consummate community organizer with ties to Memphis and other places throughout the country plagued with social and economic inequities that disproportionately impact African Americans, Hispanics, and low income workers of all ethnicities.

Keedran’s commitment to a better community led to his being one of the founders of the Coalition of Concerned Citizens (C3) that was brought together to unify several community organizations. C3 actions led to the creation of the C3 Land Cooperative, a 501 (c) (3) organization. The Cooperative’s mission is to create urban farming to combat food deserts including an educational platform to teach citizens how to economically empower themselves to sell their produce, and to fight for better low income housing.

He helped create the Books and Breakfast program, established August 2017, which has fed and inspired more than 2500 child and adult citizens to increase appreciation of good reading skills. Keedran continues to meet with the Memphis Chamber of Commerce to find new ways to employ under-skilled workers destined to remain in low-paying jobs with no room for pathways to ever be able to earn a living wage.
