It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Kathy's passing, September 19, 2023- she fought a long & courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

One of her greatest wishes was to sell her restaurant before she passed, and that wish was granted in August 2023.

We're excited to announce that local residents Clint Davis and his wife Mireya are the new owners of Kathy's Kitchen, and they are dedicated to honoring her legacy, and preserving the beloved name and atmosphere you all remember. Kathy was able to spend time in her last months sharing her wisdom, secret tips, and some of her recipes with Clint & Mireya.

Kathy's Kitchen will be reopening very soon, with a mix of familiar favorites and exciting new additions. Please bear with the process as Clint and Mireya embark on this journey of learning, growth, and customer service. We can't wait to welcome back the Melvern community. Thank you for your patience and continued support!

We hope all of you are staying safe and healthy!

Update on Kathy:

Kathy was admitted to the hospital & recently returned home from a 10-day stay. It was finally discovered that the issue causing Kathy so much sickness was unfortunately a cancerous tumor blocking her stomach. She had to undergo a surgery placing a G-tube drainage and J-tube feeding system into her stomach for her to be able to receive proper nutrients & relief. She is still recovering from those surgeries & after a visit to the radiologist Wednesday, just recieved great news today that she will be able to receive radiation treatment beginning next week! This will be a very aggressive treatment (5 days per week for 5 weeks), and after meeting with her oncologist later this month, there is a possibility that chemo will be incorporated as well.

Kathy is a fighter & will need every bit of strength she has to fight this fight, so the restaurant will continue to remain CLOSED for an undetermined amount of time.

Kathy is currently receiving care at home from her children, with supplemental home healthcare visits. She appreciates all of the prayers, flowers, cards, words of encouragement, texts, & phone calls she continues to receive; due to Covid-19, we are not allowing visitors at this time.

We wanted to post a quick update so we can squash any rumors going around about Kathy. She has been sick for a couple of months (remember, she is still battling cancer), and in trying to get to the root of the problem, she tested positive for Covid during a routine screening for a scheduled endoscopy. Her endoscopy procedure has been postponed due to her positive test, but she continues to struggle through daily bouts of vomiting and generally feeling unwell. She did take a trip to the ER over the weekend, and continues to work closely with her doctors to try to get some answers and relief from her symptoms. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and send positive vibes her way!
