Creating memories motivates me to take pictures of our kids competing -- hopefully a memory was created last night for my young friend Jake Grieser, his teammates, coaches, family and friends, with the following series of photos -- the memory might be:
Remember Homecoming 2026, when the Meeker Cowboys - who were ranked number two in the state's 1A division, at the time - hosted the Olathe Pirates in front of a full grandstand at Starbuck Stadium/Bob King Track?
Olathe kicked off to start the game, Grieser fielded it at about the 15-yard line and his teammates made a huge hole right for him, up the middle, then he juked the kicker, broke a tackle getting to the outside, then the sophomore speedster took it to the house!
Then the Cowboys went on to start the running clock in the first half and win their Homecoming game 47-14 -- remember? -- It was so fun!

Fun watching our student/athletes compete -- Meeker has a tradition of always "trying" hard -- we may not win every time but we always try hard.
Tonight our Cowboys tried hard, played hard and won all their Homecoming 2026 games against the Olathe Pirates, including our varsity volleyball team -- good job Meeker!
